Didn"t even get in the door

replied to a job advertised on Gumtree this morning , quick phone call got called over for a interview there and then ,thought happy days !
Now , as 99% of the country is fully aware , its been snowing for the last 3 days …anyway , got over to there smallish yard and drove my car in to 4/5inches deep in snow…ah , but spot a gap where a lorries been parked and now gone , so turn car around ( a 3 point turn i might add ) and park in said vacant space . Still with me ? Good

After parking car in said space , walk into reception area to be greeted with , and i quote , " Think your gonna drive my trucks like that you can f*** off ! " :open_mouth:

" Sorry ? " i reply…

And said bloke walks off . I then look at 2 very shocked receptionists and ask said bloke " are you serious ? "
To which the reply is " i saw you wheel spinning in my yard , your not working for me driving like that ! "

Anyway, 5minute heated conversation insues within his office / and then yard implying that i drive like a t****** ,
and no amount of common sense or explanation that its 4 inches of snow and 3.0 auto Granadas tend to spin the wheels , and it was not intentional , especially on 5 inches of compacted snow !

Anyway , didn"t get an interview

To be fair ,i think he did me a favour…if thats his attitude towards what i believe is a minor unintentional act , what would he be like to actually work for ?

What is your view ?

You could always say he has yellow lorries with red spots and the yard is in X ind est

or just post up the gumtree ad on the vacancies forum■■?

There is firm based in luton area on landfill work in the south east area on bulk landfill who refuse to let drivers spin the wheels on the tip.

You need to wheel spin just to get going half the time on snow.

What a knob, would he have preferred you left it in the middle of the yard and told him you’re stuck.

Long as you don’t shred the tyres or burn the clutch out, what’s the big deal?

Lucky escape there Mr Sumo! That fella is a proper bell-end!!

You should have accidentally fallen over on your way out, then sued him for negligence for allowing 5 in of compacted snow to build up in his yard.

That way, you could have still had the wage, without actually doing the job!

I’d have spun the tyres all the way down the road just to get away…

Good on him, you sound like a reckless maniac that should be stripped of his licence to drive any sort of motor carriage

Thanks …just going to re-read what i originally wrote , just to clarify your comment…

Nope , don"t see any mention of me driving in a reckless maniacal way , but thanks anyway

Great story. Good on you for giving as good as you got  - He could have at least been professional about it regardless.

BTW Gumtree ?

Is this quite a normal way to advertise a job these days?
