Gone from a 06 to a new truck and been using my didgi card for a few months but!
left my card in overnight on other work and was away from the truck over 11 hours but when I got in the dash and didgi was showing I had done 2hrs 21 mins driving but the print out was showing nothing but put card in at 05.am
can anybody shed any light please…do I have to do a manual entry to make it zero or something.
Just carnt understand how it can print out different than what is saying on the dash
The 2 hrs 21 min showing is the time driven yesterday since your last driving break. You should’ve done a printout both before and after your current shift with a written explanation as to your error on the back. This will not make the issue go away, but could be the difference between putting your hand in your pocket or not during a routine check.
It’s my belief that contrary to what many think DVSA/the police are not out “to get you”, and can be reasonable if you’ve screwed up and show that you understand how and why you did it.
The card was in the head for 2 Seperate days, you need to print out for both days then then write a brief note on the back of both printouts and keep them for 28 days then hand them in to your employer.
As above,fines can be issued retrospectively, if have a number of errors over a 28 day period you could be fined a hefty sum.
Be careful.
Graduated Fixed Penalties cannot be issued for historical offences. They can only be issued for current offences. However this is set to change some time soon so that penalties can be issued for anything in the last 28 days.
If you have 4 or more offences in your records that would have been £100 or more per offence - they may prosecute.
For this situation - just one printout, written explanation card left in from X to X, sign it and carry for 28 days. No problems. You did not commit an offence if you were actually on rest.

The problem is that the tacho doesn’t know you had a rest period so the last driving period is continuing. Legally this isn’t an issue but the data within the tacho will be a bit out. You can’t manually enter anything as the card already contains data and you can’t overwrite it.
