Absolutely taught me exactly what i already knew, and nothing about what i dont, it wont make me a better driver, as i always drive according to the road conditions, something i learned many years ago. Just to add my twopennysworth, i think its a complete waste of time, and only added work for the trainers ( thats a joke in itself ) They could have changed the way they train drivers, included it for new drivers as part of the driving test, but not for drivers with vast experience, it would be more worthwhile to teach everyone about first aid.
As i have said before, my vision of training drivers, would be a 3 month course to teach them all aspects of road transport, from tacho law, to the different types, to trailers, and different types again roping and sheeting, ratchet strapping etc, it could be done as modules with an exam at the end, but thats in an ideal world.
I learned a bit from the courses I did and cemented some knowledge.
I was struck however by the number of old salts who would on most courses score badly in the quizzes on very simple questions.
As an example. Bridge heights. Road signs and the like
Of course I am a better driver! The EU and the government say so!
It should have been more comprehensive and tests at the end to weed out the useless and feckless! Just saying!!!
As i work abroad (canada)i dont have to do the DCPC … the DCPC makes me think of Ontario where Commercial drivers have to resit a written test/driving test. under 46yrs medical & 60 question test on air brakes ,highway code every 5yrs
over 46–64 …3yrs.
over 65 medical, 60 question test ,driving test anually.
thankfully its the only province that does this.
Dont know about making me a better driver, but gave me more knowledge than I had about some topics…after all no-one knows it all do they !!
No. I can honestly say it taught me nothing I didn’t already know and apply in everyday driving.
Yes
It didn’t make me a better driver, But it did make me much more aware of the consequences of thinks like… Tipping or doing other work on break, having a bald tyre, WTD and a wee bit about O licences. In my opinion it wasn’t a waste of time at all… it was paid for me though

Yep! But you’ve gotta take the rough with the smooth ain’t yer!
