It’s important for any business to know what his rivals are up to. So, the same as most others, I occasionally do a trawl of other trainers’ websites. It dawned on me today that some don’t mention driver cpc at all and that few make the requirements clear.
I’ve also been surprised at the number of people coming to us for CE having been elsewhere for C and not wishing to return, who know nothing about driver cpc.
From January, all our full C, D, CE courses will include cpc - either initial or periodic - as I think it looks as if it’s being overlooked by some trainers. Our courses will look marginally more expensive as a result.
So my question is, how do new drivers become aware of the cpc requirements?
If any customer who trains with us requires Driver CPC(Initial), we all know they may need periodic soon , we will (and always have) included it in the price quote given at the time of assessment - I see no point helping someone gain their driving licence if they can’t then go on to do the job they want.
I must say that, in the not too distant past, I provided an Initial training course for a driver who was already working for a very well known company who didn’t realise he hadn’t completed it before employing him - education is not only needed for the new drivers, but also for those who then employ them.
Unfortunately some trainers don’t actually want to “waste time” with a test that could get in the way of a weeks course .
If a job has to be done - then do it well.
