Its a 10% increase, not to be sniffed at.

Many drivers will be turning up tomorrow holding their shiny blue card, mumbling about how they said they would never have one and STILL be on the same rate they were on 4 years ago.

ime not taking the p about your £1.50 tubster my boss told me last week that my 35p an hour rise was very good after I stopped laughing I told him what I thought crap! but spose it’s better than nothin

Sorry  Misread your response

The agency adverts are bull ■■■■ anyway, they will not pay more than they want to, they certainly will not offer more than they can get away with.

The demand for drivers on the temp market is so high at the moment, they have to be flexible

Full timers are a different kettle of fish IMO

The subject of pay was expertly dodged at our transport meeting last week. What we are getting though is weekly newsletters saying how well we’re doing, can we help with packing a large order that’s been contracted out to be delivered by subbies :unamused: (they can ■■■■ off), and that they’ve got new desks coming. So that’s where this big pay rise went to then.
… Currently keeping an eye on various job sites, seen a tempting one to entice me back to tippers but waiting for all these veteran drivers to shred their licences as they promised.

We got 4.5%

Wot? - no one being palmed off with “You’re taking a pay cut bud, or you’re out - there’s no driver shortage!” from the boss?

looking at the posts so far… We ARE getting some pay rises. we are NOT getting laid off.

Is there a shortage or not?

Shortages are going to be at agencies rather than at full time yards in general.
If there IS any shortage at a full time yard - it’ll be because some drivers have wised-up and left to go on agency, now the rates have already risen in some cases it would seem…

Being pulled by DVSA, VOSA, plod or whatever?

Nah… There’s a shortage of law enforcement right now - hadn’t you heard? :stuck_out_tongue:

This years rise went in this month, so yes, but not today as such.

got one two weeks ago-i handed my notice in due to being offered a much better rate at a different firm, and my current employer came up with a decent increase to get me to stay.
nothing to do with dcpc though…

Well the govenor of the bank of England said today that wages should start going up again next year…really? We got a tenner a week in july…still take home less then 400

Yes a good one too, also an increase on our holiday pay

I personally know two drivers that have used the dcpc as an excuse to leave the industry, but the driver shortage will have more to do with an aging workforce and the prohibitive cost for new drivers to get a license.

It was a half decent job when I get my hgv 25 years ago, but no way would I ever recommend it as a career to anyone nowadays.

I got 11% rise from 1st September.

All I got was a second request to do a Saturday shift. Seeing as I’m working a 5-day week already for them and enjoy what I do, I said what I said last time about weekly rest. He said he could cover me for a Monday, so what does that tell you about trying to fill that Saturday?
Yeah, me too… :unamused:

No,nothing, but the agency drivers I was chatting too tonight said they’d all been given a very substantial pay rise.
