Dictating terms

I fall into the catchment areas of several agencies but only use one of them, receiving £10ph. I decided to sign up with another agency as well. I told him I wanted £12.50 ph, X1.5 after 8hours. He laughed and said there was no chance because that was more than they paid. I said, “Fair enough, just leave me on your books at my terms” He came back on a few days later with a job. Should I use this to pressurize my original agency?

if they wann pay you what you ask take the money if not don’t … but get it in writing be it e-mail or txt before you go to the job

Nothing wrong in signing up with many agencies and stating the minimum rate you will accept

I would go further and set out all your rates for particular days and times such as night work on a weekend on paper and getting the agencies to sign such

You problem could be that none of them ever offer you any work

that’s fine but when it goes quiet who is going to be first one stood still?

and I have never had an issue with drivers being with more than 1 agency if anything gives me a nice reminder to do my job and keep the driver busy.

You are not dictating your are negotiating.

Just like when you apply for a job, you don’t like the terms then negotiate or walk away. They have the same option.
