I know a few people on here drive lorrys for DHL, what are your experiences with them? I have family that work at DHL as one of the heads and she’s going to try and see what she can do for me.
Not being picky obviously, i can’t afford to be! Just wondered though.
The site/job can only be as good or as bad as the head honcho running that particular site.
No contract/site is the same.
The DHL brand talks a load of ■■■■■■■■ at times with the values rubbish and compliance across the board.
Think more of someone got bored and made up this rubbish that you are likely to ignore and you will be fine.
I’ve worked for a few DHL’s, airport, parcels and TK MAXX contract, all have been different but none were bad in my opinion.
Couldn’t handle the parcels though, was in a little van doing 70+ drops per day, but didn’t know the area, so spent about 2hrs sorting my route before leaving, then trying to find some of the places like house names instead of numbers - Rose Cottage, it’s a ■■■■■■■ terraced house number 175 you ■■■■■■
Airport was always easy work and the TK MAXX was a doddle and had a canteen.

sam ive done lots of subbie work for them over the years and they are a typicall big player but most of thier employed drivers that i know seem happy with thier lot, wages, conditions, job satisfaction etc etc. like any big company you will get mucked about some days but it goes with the job whoever you work for.

Thanks fellas, so what’s the difference between DHL and DHL excel? or exel…
There is no difference, DHL took over Exel a few years ago so it’s all the same company now.
For the most part the old Exel contracts now go under the DHL banner though you may still see the occasional vehicle carrying the Exel name.
Alright, just she said she would try and get me into the Exel department, she mentioned a few different departments.
Exel is now dhl supply chain, all the 3pl stuff, your tesco, Iceland, bp, jaguar land rover etc. Then there’s freight forwarding, express. All the contracts have the same corporate music but at different volumes and they all have a different dance.

You have to blick up to them, you need to be friendly to them, and you need to do them good wherever you can and they will treat you like there Loved one.
But dont order them anything,or advice them,as you would fall out.
worked for DHL on and off for 5 years ,just expect loads of BS loads of backward thinking and no logical way in there practices apart from that you should be ok

How you getting on with your new Honcho ?
Has he sussed out the shirking shysters yet ?
Not seen him on nights tbh.
I think the planners have been told to be more realistic due to loads failing down to the bad planning.
That said they still have some runs short changed time wise as in Enfield for some reason is down to 2hrs 14 minutes when it’s 2hrs 50 minimum.Glos is at something stupid like 1hr 38 when it’s a minimum of 1hr 50 on a good run.Few others too that need adjusted.
You know what our planners are like ■■■■ up in a brewey springs to mind.
As it is I think drivers are left pretty much alone still, the only wrist slaps atm are overspeeds. The 61 plates send an alert back when there is an overspeed warning.Where it was and what speed and for how long.
Not sure if the lazy shysters have anything to worry about yet
Time will tell.

Prehaps he is too busy sorting out the day shift
Agree with you regarding the planners, a lot of the “planning” leaves a lot to be desired
When I was last in there, a few of the lazy boys looked worried, but, then again, you do get stressed thinking about which lay-bye to toss it off in
Is “Sanky” & co back on nights yet, or, are the agency boys still thin on the ground ?
Agency lads are still a bit thin on the ground.
Had a few in to cover first qtr holidays and half term.
Couple of lads in last night.
Easter not far off now so might pick up a bit more, steady atm.
