DHL Rigid

Evening.

Spotted a DHL rigid today in Runcorn that I’ve never seen before.
It was set up like the trailers that are used on the gas contracts which are pintle trailers but I’ve never seen a rigid like this.
Do DHL have any gas cylinder work or is it for some other kind of metal stillage work.

Just curious

Speaking of oddities… seen a LHD UK plate 17 reg Actros pulling a Stobarts trailer earlier. Thought it must have been a contractor but the driver was greened up like the rest. Any ideas?

What colour was the unit? Might have been one of their motorsport trucks being used for haulage work as the European F1 season is over.

Must be up to something. I’ve only ever seen the one and that was yesterday morning at Balmaclellan up by New Galloway with a full load of bottles.
Plain white with just the small DHL sticker on the cab door.

Plain white. First I thought one of the euro fleet then seen the UK plate. Then I thought contractor then seen the uniform.

Not knowing what a "pintle trailer"is but from what you say and the location ICI maybe, thats if they are still around Runcorn
Considering DHL was at one time BRS who had the ICI contract for years

As stated really, plain white cab with DHL sticker on door.
Pretty sure the body of the rigid was black and open sided and with a grey canopy type roof, surely if it was just standard cylinders they’d be flat bed like the ones on BOC, Air products and the likes

Not knowing what a "pintle trailer"is

Basically it’s just a flat bedded trailer with 10 metal squares facing upwards down each side and each metal stillage / pallet that you can load has a slot in the front of it with an anti roll bar and when you load your pallet on the metal square the metal square sits inside the slot of the pallet and the anti roll bar stops it from falling off really.
You can put 28 plts on max, 10 each side and 8 down the centre

Could be for anything, that company has it’s fingers in more pies, how long will it be before there’s a Stobart Funeral Service

Thanks Gas Man

No canopy/roof on this one, just the usual cylinder 6-wheeler. I’m starting to think Tradeteam and beer gas maybe?
He was sat waiting to get onto a narrow road I was coming out of. Knew I should have asked him!

They haven’t been doing the Mercedes F1 thing for a few years, DB Schenker have been doing it, I believe they do the transport for Williams and they transport the tyres and equipment for Pirelli and tyre fitting for GP2, GP3.

All Stobart European has been giving to villy webars from hungry. Stobart had some lhd merc registered in CZ.

Asked our resident stobrat spotter if he had any idea on this. He didn’t but said he’s getting a new book or email or something about their fleet or any recent additions, well something like that I kind of switched off. Said he would let me know if he found anything out.

Correct sir :'-)

Thanks SoutheastCashew, nice pics but old livery

I saw plenty of them in the matte black doing Pirelli, didn’t realise the silver units was to do with ES aswell.

They’re not, at least not for Mercedes F1.
