Yep, that was me this morning JN 42 of the M1 N-bound at around 0730
An Eddie Stobart artic had hit a van, stopping very quickly, I shunted up the back of him & a car went up my backside. Luckily no-one was hurt. My truck is a write-off, as is the car that hit me. The other 2 vehicles have minor damage.
It was â– â– â– â– â– â– â– scary.
And nope, I wasn’t tired, or on the phone, or doing anything else distracting. Just driving in heavy traffic, following another vehicle a bit too close.
I’m a bit shaken, a bit worried about climbing back into a wagon and my knees are grazed from hitting the dash.
I’m just glad it was an artic I hit, not a car. It doesn’t bare thinking about.
Hope it doesn’t happen to you and the Stobbard’s driver has summat about him, but don’t rule out a claim for whiplash from him/her; you know what the claim’s culture is like in the UK now…

Very true. Everyone said they were OK at the time but give them a bit of time to think it through and chat with their mates…hey remember so & so, well he got x amount for whiplash, you should try it
What ■■■■■■me off though is that in 16 years of driving (admittedly, mostly car driving) I’ve only ever had 3 accidents and they were all bumper nudge accidents i.e. no real damage to speak of. A few months of class 1 driving & I’ve written one off already.
I’m glad your ok m8,but can i give you one little but very important tip DO NOT ADMIT TO ANYTHING ESPECIALLY ON A Web SITE.As you never know who is reading it.(ie police etc)Let them prove you where toooooo close.
Get yourself back out on the rd asap m8,good luck and keep your chin up.No one was hurt apart from your pride.
jessicas dad:
now its the next day how do you feel and whats your gaffer said…
I’m feeling a lot better now thanks and am wanting to get back driving asap, although I will be taking it a bit steady for a while. My boss hasn’t said too much about it, he seemed in OK spirits when he collected me from Ossett yesterday. I nearly said ‘at least I don’t have to clean it now’, but refrained!
… is ianstill after a driver for his new daf’s
Hope your feeling fine after your slight mishap, but you will need to do what I did when I had my bad accident nearly 6 years ago,and thats get back behind the wheel asap.
Think of it like riding a bike, you fall off,you get back up,and get back on it again.
