Demisted windscreen

Don’t forget to demist them windscreens.

Moment misted windscreen causes truck driver to smash into back of stationary van | Watch

Yeah but watching later part of the video sun shinning down into drivers vision / face doesn’t help things

He would have had way better vision if hed wiped the screen inside with a dry cloth
That screen was way misted up

Sun has been a nightmare lately , at times crossing from Newbury - Basingstoke last week I was totally blinded , cars were hitting there brakes as well ,

I remember years ago one of our company drivers ploughed into the back of a car killing the driver ( believe it was hull area ) , he said sun blinded him , police tried that route to confirm what he said , they had same issue , it’s along time ago but I believe he was found not guilty.

As for misting I can’t remember having a lorry misted up ( is that a thing now ) , ours are often left all w/end & can’t remember it

Looking at it again , is heater working ? Driving with high viz jckt on , finger less gloves seems strange to me , didn’t think screen was particularly misted up , I’d of said not paying attention but he did seem to be looking at road

I’d have to listen to what he says before passing judgment

It can happen instantly. Have you ever gone from air conditioning into a warm area? Your glasses can fog up immediately. Same can happen to a windscreen.

Regarding low blinding sun, I always have my headlights on when driving with the sun behind me, just to make sure I am seen by the oncoming blind brigade.

Maybe it’s me stu but I’ve not had a modern lorry just steam up , and to be honest it doesn’t look that bad he couldn’t see the van ( I could & my eyes are far from the best , any vision issues I’ve had are from the sun .

I still think it’s strange wearing a high viz coat & what looks like finger less gloves whilst driving , it intimidates to me he’s cold , heaters not working , so can’t demist the screen

We will never get the full story so can only guess

Either way need to have the windows open enough to keep a good airflow blowing through and out of the cab.Bonus if that air is well heated and warming the screen.

Condensation is caused by humidity in the still stale air especially from breathing hitting cold glass.

This was on breakfast news earlier. Apparently it happened about year ago. Fella has just been sentenced to 36 weeks suspended.
And given an 18 month driving ban

I have the piss taken out of me for almost living in sunglasses…. Should be mandatory for professional drivers to carry….

Although it did take me 3 years to learn the next gen Scanias have an additional blind, the friend who taught me that is no longer with us, but I still haven’t been able to live it down… the blind leading the blind….

No excuses for not having a clear windscreen though, if its iced, scrape, if its steamed, demist. At the very least crack the window an inch so all the hot air coming out my mouth has somewhere to escape…. If the heaters ■■■■■■, VOR the pissing lorry.

Rightly so.

These modern aero cabs don’t help. The old DAF 2800 had gear operated quarter lights which extracted air across the windscreen.I also used the combination of engine heater and night heater to maintain hot Summer day temperature in the cab.Left the engine running all night including breaks and trailer swaps.
For some reason this muppet seems to want a cab like a fridge. It looked like a combination of a cold cab and windows and misted damp screen and direct sun.

Never trust anyone that wears Dark Glasses i was always told.

100%. I don’t trust myself. I’m a danger to others.
