Has anyone delivered to Volkafitzpatrick, Three Bridges, Via Williams Way, Crawley, RH10 7AA.
Apparently there’s a low bridge on the access road (someone in the office seems to think its 12ft 6") with a ramp that makes it awkward. I’ve tried google maps but it doesn’t drive down Williams Way.
As my TGX is in for MOT (& warning lights-grrrrr) tomorrow, I’ve been volunteered to take a 12 ton Man (11ft 10" at the rear end)
Any advice would be welcome, because if I can’t get through the bridge, they ain’t getting the load. (Shame)
Thats actually the railway sidings which is on the other side of where the low bridge is. Ive taken a double deck up there. If it is the firm on the other side of the tracks there is a very low bridge. All i did with them was to phone up and they sent a telehandler down to me to offload.
Get a contact number and double check which side of the lines you are delivering to.
The bridges at the front of the station wont give you any issues.

Thanks Mick, we’re trying it in a 12 ton/12 footer & I’ll ask them about taking a bigger wagon & unloading without going through the bridge, it’s ACO Drainage & we get full 26 ton loads, so it’ll take about 5 x 12 tonners to deliver the same amount (@ 5/6 ton per load)
We’ve had issues before where we’ve dropped off pallets to a nearby haulage company, in Crawley, so they can deliver on flats (we haven’t got any) & they’ve let us down.

12’6 bridge and a 11’10 truck. Am I missing something?
I did explain that there’s a ramp (going into the bridge) & the office only seem to think that the bridge is 12’6"
I just wondered if there was any other solutions to delivering to this awkward site.
Ill have a look tonight when i finish work and confirm. I think i did it in our DD trunk vehicle. The biggest problem is having to reverse back down the path on to the main rd.
I take my 8w through it’s 12’2 high but there’s not much left above. I think there may be another entrance at the south end but anything overheight usually gets turfed off and taken through. Just to complicate matters there is another part of the job on the opposite side of of the track, accessed through the network rail yard. In my experience also comes under Williams Way
Just been there 12’6" height limit. There is a compound with a security hut but if you drive up you have to reverse out as there is nowhere for anything overheight to turn around.
The other side of the tracks is a Volker office but if your firm are aware of a low bridge then it must be this side.
There is a compound / carpark next to the hut, once when I got sent for lights they were in that compound so I was able to turn around there. They’d left the lights directly underneath the overhead lines and wondered why I dragged the nearer to the road before getting the crane out.
Just worth mentioning is that beyond the bridge it’s orange ppe required.
Well that was fun, all the usual H&S B/S, except when I had to reverse 200 yards, they all vanished, don’t suppose they’ve done a risk assessment on that one ?
12’5" is the maximum according to Jackie on the gate (although the sign said 12’6") so our 7.5 & 12 tonners are ok.
