Do one on a regular basis and not normally a issue, switch off fridge,go under, tipped and gone.
But now have a policy of sending load as soon as ready,so arrives 1 pm for a 9 pm booking ,turns off fridge and goes around to shop, told miles too early
( as if itâs my fault theyâve sent me there 8 hrs too early), so rings in and says it may be up to 8 hrs until they tip me,there fine just sit with it.
Now thatâs ok but fridge is off( frozen etc on there), so I query this,itâs fine just switch it on
( possibly 8hrs of fridge running with limited ventilation) basically entry and exit
.
I wasnât convinced at all it would be fine,so pulled out, found somewhere too park and went back at 8.30 pm.
So Iâm just wondering has anyone sat underneath a shopping centre, enclosed delivery area, limited ventilation and survived 8 hrs with the fridge running( abit on start/stop, cycles) .
N.b shops can be really funny about temps,so leaving it off for 8 hrs was not really a option
Surely there is enough ventilation to cope with a fridge running? What about the fire regs? what about health and safety? what about⌠what about the childrenâ â ?
Wouldnât have thought running a fridge underground would be a problem as said ventilation should cope, we do underground service areas 1 in Liverpool isnt that big and Iceland are there when iget there with his fridge running.
And you donât notice it just a bit noisy thats all.
Wot about the milk lorry waiting to get on your bay next?
Places like Elephant & Castle have only got room for one artic on the bay at a time, and itâs a right pig even turning around an urban combination in there.
Iâm fairly new to fridges but I canât see an issue tbh.
Thereâs no issue running a fridge or multiple vehicles in underground delivery areas, the ventilation isnât limited at all, they are designed to be used by vehicles for gods sake!!
Anyone remember delivering to the old bull ring shopping centre in Birmingham, now that place need ventilation as it bloody stunk!! wouldnât have fancied 8 hours sat under there!!

Is that Bellevale Shopping Centre?
Iâm the same in thinking nothing wrong with having your fridge on in underground service yards in my opinion, wouldnât think twice about it.
Nobody likes a good moan more than ady.
I reckon you made the job harder for yourself for no need.
You did the right thing and phoned the office and then cancelled that out by ignoring them.
You are obviously a conscientious driver dozy and applaud you for that but if they said itâll be ok then it goes out of temp, whoâs problem is it dozy?
Dear me, I must learn to read more closelyâŚI read it first time as them telling you to leave the fridge off
So in light of that,Iâd have stopped there if there was room and if it got a bit fumey then do what you did.

Just go park somewhere with nice scenery until 8 pm.
It seems a really silly policy, tying up a vehicle and driver for 8 hours intentionally.
One load equals one full shift plus overtime, the majority of the time sat doing nothing.
And then vehicle operators complain they canât make money!
theres several we go too that if i dont turn the fridge off it will set the fire alarm off, these inculde , lakeside thurock, nottingham victoria center , merryhill , chesterfield pavements , if i was having to wait 8 hours , i would find a quiet place near by to park up, but not in the basement â â â â â â â everyone off

Oh yeah. . . Thatâs a corker. One of my first few drops in a bendy. Not too bad but when you are new to it and have to reverse down the ramp, looking at where so so many drivers have âcleaned the trailers on the wallsâ⌠It makes you slow down and make sure you get it bang on.
I always thought security was OK there and even got chatting to the chat show dj that does the radio show in or near that building. Like a private continuation of the radio show I was just listening to. Iâm sure it was something to do with trucks in cityâs too. lol
