convoy, sounds like you did alright, many a driver would’ve got stressed and fetched half the loads back!
you think you’ll get anymore work for them?
Cheers for the tip brit pete
I will try that Wheel Nut if I come across it again.

its so not to damage the trace pin thing.
The 2 weeks went well paul b but I did think that day
I got back at 20:00 hours I would have to bring something
back but I was prepared to stay out as legally possible and
get as much done as possible and managed it. There
was a bit of stress at times like I was on a busy high st and
had to reverse off the high st on to a side road and I just
started reversing with a quite loud reverse bleeper sounding
and a car parks up right behind me on the corner and little
things like that happened so nothing to stressfull. They did
ask if I was in this coming week and I said the agency have
not said anything yet but they do use a lot of agency drivers
and are looking for some permanent drivers as well so
probably will do some more work for them again in the
future as I did enjoy it.
Glad you enjoyed it, and all went well.
THIS MAYBE A BIT LATE TO BE OF USE TO YOU CONVOY
but hopefully it will be to anyone else new to steel hauling as i am.
I was recently sent to one of firms regular customers which specializes in galvanizing and pre-fabrecation,as i have picked up normal galve i didn,t think anything of it until when in the yard i was told my load consisted of POWDER COATED fenceing and gate posts, these came in, in heat shrinked packs of about 20 to 30 fence posts in each pack and 6to8 gate posts in the larger ones
I had aleady put the timbers on the trailer and was going to treat this as would any other steel load that i’d done thus far until one of the regular drivers pointed out just how SLIPPERY POWDER COATED steel could be shock:
as even in the heat shrinked packs the individual peices can slide around ontop of one another and make the load very un stable so always
1but the packs right up to the headboard and all priceading packs right up to those to stop any forwards and backwards movement
2 always put at LEAST 3 straps per section of packs
3 make sure you have enough timbers under each pack
I hope this will be of some value to you as the advice was to me.[/b]

The old analogue tacho required a wax disc in slot 2 to protect the stylus, if the truck was not used with a tacho card it was advisable to place one in slot one as well. However the new cassette type semi digital machine do not require a wax disc.
What happens especially on mine is that the dashboard display which shows driven hours and rest taken goes blank or fails to count on, The flashing clock normally shows there is a fault too
Great posts Convoy.
Where do you get all the energy to drive and post like this?
