Just had my first medical too and it’s the same, runs for 5years.

Renewed photo at PO within the last few weeks
Old licence stated LGV expiry on 09/12/2014 because I had 3 yearly eye test on 08/12/2011
New licence states LGV expiry on 08/08/2018
My last D4 medical done at age 50 in 2008
Usually have short term LGV due to eye test every 3 years
Called DVLA and they stated that it is correct under new EU directive for the new type of licences
Thanks a lot - 10 years between D4 medicals and no short term licence
