Only if its a 2 lane motorway…or lane 1 is closed on a 3 lane motorway.

The right-hand lane of a motorway with three or more lanes MUST NOT be used (except in prescribed circumstances) if you are driving

any vehicle drawing a trailer
a goods vehicle with a maximum laden weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes but not exceeding 7.5 tonnes, which is required to be fitted with a speed limiter
a goods vehicle with a maximum laden weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes
a passenger vehicle with a maximum laden weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes constructed or adapted to carry more than eight seated passengers in addition to the driver
a passenger vehicle with a maximum laden weight not exceeding 7.5 tonnes which is constructed or adapted to carry more than eight seated passengers in addition to the driver, which is required to be fitted with a speed limiter.

Only on a Friday.

gooddriver:
Lol I never knew that I always sit in the outside At 51mph on limiter but today noticed no one else was so just wondered Oops

What do you mean you never knew it? It was part of your driving lessons and your test. Do you have a licence?

Here’s a clue prescribed vehicles can’t use lane 3 of a 3 lane motorway or lane 4 of a 4 lane motorway to overtake slower traffic in lanes 1/2 and/or 3.
Personally I think prescribed vehicles should also be banned from using lanes 3 and 4 of a 4 lane motorway.

Third lane is a NO NO irrespective what the speed limit is. Only time time you can use it is when lane one is closed, but if its roadworks theres usually LGV and width restrictions placed on lane three anyways. Try lifting your boot off the pedal for once you will hardly lose any time.

That’s the thing the width restriction isn’t there until u get about ten miles further through the restrictions

I’m pretty sure you can use the outside lane if the ns lane is closed though? Rite? As in, it’s now a 2 lane m-way for all intents and purposes…

You can use any lane you want

Its only when you see the flashing blue lights the problems arise…
