we had a young deaf guy start at our firm, first job after getting his license. very keen, willing to do anything asked of him, local, nationwide, euro work. He had a few scrapes and scratches, inexperience and age related, then he started missing alarms in the morning and phone calls. ended up being too unreliable, which was a shame because I got on well with him, even though he was stone deaf he could lip read and his speaking was good enough to understand. better than the english speaking ■■■■■■■ we had working for us for a while.

How deaf?
Can it be resolved by a hearing aid?
Whereabouts in the northwest as the southerners reckon anywhere north of Birmingham is Northwest FFS![]()
Hendon actually old chap.
The OP sent me a pm but then deleted it. I wonder if he wanted my details so he could sue me for not giving him a cuddle and telling him everything will be ok.
mzeros:
thats DDA ACT broken
I think the word you WERE looking for was “Equality Act 2010”
The Disability Discrimination Act disappeared into oblivion in 2010!
Shame really seeing that the OP wants to go
- deaf bloke here - well 50% hearing loss so I am told - but under the Equality Act 2010 still classed as Disabled yet I can’t ■■■■■■■ get any benifits, thats another story and not going to go off topic. but Hi to the OP if your around…
Now you may find there is some jobs out there where deafness can come very handy, you have to find the right one - like me using a Hydro Drive Bulk discharge system - yes they are loud but have to wear ear muffs. But doesn’t bother me one bit - took 8 years to get here.
Stick it out - I would try agency work for the time being on basic driving like trunking and basic shop work, you gotta work your way up like other folk said above - fight it and show you can do the job. But remember traffic bods talk to one another

Sorry,
You claim to be deaf, full white British, but yet a ENT had not offered you a BAHA implant … you can be 100% deaf in both ears and still be able to hear after the operation.
