Defects during Vosa stops

Having never been pulled over by VOSA/DVSA, I dont know what the procedure is. I have had a look at the categorisation of defects document on the .gov site but confused by the detail.

A couple of examples -

What is the likely action if pulled in and have
A) a side repeater missing
B) marker light out
C) faulty reverse light(s)
D) Dash warning message - one ive seen before on an MAN is “Brake control malfunction” (or something very similar)
E) Small crack about size of 5p piece directly in drivers view on windscreen

Specifically, if you had noted these items on a defect form preshift.

With regards to the brake message, if rolling brake test is successful, would this suffice?

The above is just a selection of the things ive seen when the trucks are leaving the yard with an operator that relies mostly on agency drivers.

I did a search and saw the words “safe and legal take it” but im still curious about the above.

thanks

For a bulb, they would make you change it at the roadside providing you have one spare of-course.

If you don’t know how to get at the bulb do you think they’d give you a hand?

I’m sure they would. They are reasonable people.

They might, or you could just look in the drivers manual.

The first test is an attitude test. 99% of the time they will get you for something.

First thing to do if they stop you and you have a warning light on your dash is to switch the ignition off before they see it,then when you turn the ignition off you can pretend it wasn’t there before

Do any agency drivers carry spare bulbs in their day bag in case? I presume you would never have the right one?

Last agency guy to use my truck swiped both my spare bulbs.

I know my truck, it blows a bulb every couple of months. I had the latest one go last week on Friday in the pouring rain in London.

You should have seen it coming then and preempted it!
