Yes, Jonny sounds right, we had 2x 4 wheelers with 235 ■■■■■■■ on an R plates. I think Cats started around 250 I’ve never seen any smaller.

mackaway/jonny, do you know much about these engines? to me, the foden seemed to be quite a “basic” truck, which is what i wanted. Do the the ■■■■■■■ engines follow the same rules?

In comparisson to more modern engines they are. Is it the Celect version? We had some W regs with these and although road tax was cheap, they were thirsty (I’m steady but I struggled to get more than 7mpg with one).

Green light for plans to build 250 homes on former Foden’s factory site in Sandbach
CONTROVERSIAL plans to build 248 houses on the former Foden truck-making factory site in Sandbach have been given the green light.
Cheshire East’s Strategic Planning Board has approved Hurstwood Landbank and Bellway Homes’ plans to transform the derelict site with homes, 30% of which would be Government subsidised affordable housing, business units, a public green space and a shop.
Before the committee’s meeting on Wednesday last week, the developer stated: “The final detailed application scheme creates a development with its own identity and character, which successfully responds to its surroundings and constraints.
“The site is previously developed and sustainably located within the defined urban area of Sandbach.”
Sandbach Town Council welcomed the development of a redundant brown-field site, but raised traffic fears.
However a report by planning officers, recommending the scheme for approval, stated: “The proposed development would not have a detrimental impact upon highway safety.”
Cheshire East has received 30 letters of objections from residents who also argue the development will overload Elworth and Ettiley Heath’s schools.

My first lorry was a 4300 8wheeler. Beautiful.

Good to see Chris still running, must be five or six years since I last saw him. I remember the Foden coming new, Chris had previously run a Scania but when he saw the payload and fuel economy Jim Hearson was getting from his he rang Sandbach Truck Centre and ordered one “just the same as Jims” and that’s how it came. L10 290 if I recall correctly.
That’s the one - L10 290 - with the twin splitter.
