Decision Decision ?????

Hi everyone,
I’ve been working with Hermes through an Agency since mid Sept this year. I signed up a minimum of 40h contract a week with the agency till the 8/01/17 meaning no work after. Knowing that i’ve made some contacts elsewhere to find something. Today i’ve received a phone call from DHL Avonmouth in Bristol for a driving assessment on Monday coming at 8:00 which is an ongoing job. Technically I am booked working from Sat-Thu (6 days).I called the Agency in the afternoon and they were not happy and advised me to try to reschedule the driving assessment. If anyone has experienced this help me out plse. I don’t like disappointing anyone but sometimes it can be the only solution.

1.you dont have a job…agency isnt a job and they will cancel you without notice and without any consideration…myhermes…my herpes…agency…parasitic leech…you will most likely not get any shifts after xmas anyway,…your not leaving an employer in the dung…tell them your now unavailable and stuff them…you shouldnt have told them anyway and just said unavailable, but go for the chance of a proper job.the agency will drop you in an instant once it suits them.

its a no brainer not even worth asking look after number one !!! when the agency drop you, can you ask them to reschedule for a few months down the line when you have sorted a new job out■■? I DONT THINK SO they wont care one bit

My personal opinion i would not touch agency unless i really had to/ Or at least get ya self a little stability

I think i was too honest and naive and its true i remember waking up an early morning, turned up to the transport office and been told that i’m not on the list.Tks for the quick reply and you’ve made my mind up really appreciate.I’ll go for my assessment and will tell them “unavailable”.

goodluck…the only time you will get the old pals personal appproach from an agency is when they cant find anyone else to cover a shift, and they will just work down the list using the same approach…when they say…your the only guy we can turn to for help and we know that you wont let us down,…that means…the shift is so unpopular that everyone else we have asked has told us to go and get stuffed and were trying you now to see if your daft enough to say yes.

Sod the agency! They don’t give a ■■■■ about you! The only reason for them being annoyed is because they are losing a bit of money. I wouldn’t even think about it, agency will always come crawling back when they want you…

Go to the assessment on Monday ,its full time work.

Just tell the agency your not doing ¿ that day.
If your doing the contracted hours they can’t say much any way.
Remember the agency don’t own you. And are you paid by them or self-employed…

If DHL don’t give you the job starting on Tuesday will you sit at home or expect the agency to give you work

I’m booked from sat-thu (6days) next week,I just want it to cancel Monday and do the rest of the days but if DHL give me a job I will definitely give DHL next week as a start date.

Not to sure which agency you work for in Bristol, when I have needed to book a day off with my agency for what ever reason they have always been OK with it.

I would explain that it is due to the contract ending soon and need to source new work, I am guessing they have not lined up new work for you for as soon as the contract ends. If the agency are not happy about it, and you still need to use one there are lots out there.

Good luck with the assessment.

I think I’m getting sick, I’m not sure I’ll be able to work Monday! :open_mouth:
Is what you should have said…

Honesty isn’t always the best policy when it comes to the blood sucking agency.

Always look after number one. :grimacing: :grimacing:

Hi everyone and thanks for all your supports,
Firstly my license was expired due to medical condition on Saturday 17 Dec 16 which was my last day driven a lorry and HONESTLY did know about.

Cancelled my shift with HERMES for that day and went to the assessment on Monday 19 Dec 16, at first the assessor was sick ,gutted and thinking “I should’ve worked today”. Then they found another assessor on site, while waiting one of the staff ask me to get my licences ready and “BANG” that’s when I remembered and told them everything and it’s only when they furtherly checked that I’ve found out it was EXPIRED.

This was my first experience to renew a license due to a medical condition.I called the AGENCY to update the situation obviously they didn’t believed me but after a day or two i received a text instructing me to come to the office to update my records. And now I am waiting for another date.
