Debens class action

A law firm in Manchester (jmw solicitors) has taken out a class action on behalf of ex Deben staff working in any Depot with more than 20 staff. They hope to gain 8 weeks pay per employee from the DWP for the lack of 12 week consultation period the employees were entitled to prior to redundancy
However this doesn’t come for nothing, its no win no fee but should the claim be successful they will charge you 29% and a £40 legal fee. Further details 0845 872 6666.

Wouldnt bother with paying such high fees for something you can do yourself. Find out the administrator or insolvency practioner and write to them directly, think they may even send claim forms to employees (bet the ambulance chasers have asked for them to be forwarded over).

The money comes out of the govs national insurance fund.
Usefull links for ex deben employees wishing to look into it themselves.

29% + £40 :open_mouth:

How much would a real lawyer cost if these guys are asking that much?

It sounds very benevolent of the law firm. 29% of say £4k for each of the people they ‘help’… Not a bad little earner for them! :unamused:
