Death of trucker is 'not suspicious'

A LORRY driver has been found dead in his cab parked at an industrial estate in Swadlincote.

An ambulance was called to the vehicle at 11.20am on Thursday, when the 58-year-old driver could not be woken.

Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene.

East Midlands Ambulance Service then contacted Derbyshire police to rule out the possibility of foul play.

Officers said the lorry driver was believed to be Polish.

Inspector Paul Cannon, in charge of policing in South Derbyshire, confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

He said: “The incident is being treated as a sudden death.”

A LORRY driver has been found dead in his cab parked at an industrial estate in Swadlincote.

Lorry man death in Ryder Close on the Cadley Hill Industrial Estate.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a large number of police cars surrounding a lorry parked up in Ryder Close on the Cadley Hill Industrial Estate.
An ambulance was originally called to the vehicle yesterday morning when the 58-year-old driver could not be woken.
However, paramedics on the scene declared the man dead.
East Midlands Ambulance Service contacted Derbyshire Police at 11.22am to rule out the possibility of foul play.
Along with a strong police presence, forensic investigating officers were also on the scene for most of the morning and afternoon to investigate the sudden death.
However, it has been revealed that the lorry driver’s death is not believed to be suspicious.
There was no evidence of a crash and initial findings suggest that the driver had died in his sleep.
The lorry has a Polish registration plate and police are now in the process of tracking down the man’s family.
Police remained at the scene until 2.10pm when the lorry was removed.
A post-mortem examination will now be carried out on the man to determine the cause of the man’s death.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “He was a 58-year-old man who we believe was from Poland.
“We are now investigating the incident on behalf of the coroner to determine that there was nothing suspicious about this death and are currently tracking down the family of the deceased. We do everything to check the scene just in case the post-mortem examination reveals anything suspicious.”

R.I.P. Trucker.

What a sad way to, hundreds of miles from home, no chance of saying goodbye to any family/friends he might have had. My missus said her biggest fear is either of us dying without a final goodbye. R I P.

Same thing happened to a mate of mine, a few of the lads parked next to him were going down the pub, he said he didnt fancy it and went to sleep with his head on the steering wheel, they came back and never noticed he was still there in that position, but in the morning he was still there dead.
Hope when I go it aint in some poxy truck.

Morbid thought, I keep saying that I want my ashes scattered all the way down the M6… after all, I’ve spent the last 34 years up and down it… there again, my hometown is Penrith, ■■■■■■■■ and the cemetery has a lovely peaceful view of the lake district fells…
