Dealing with rubberneckers, German style

I saw this last week. It is targeting that section of the community that gets the cameras out when they pass an accident. Fair play to the copper for not just taking the fine, but also belittling the drivers…

About 6 months ago car in front of me had his whole head/body out the window phone in hand. Really obvious what he was doing. A copper jumped the central reservation pulled him over. 1st time ever seen this happen. Should be done more really.

Good on them for pulling the drivers and challenging them like this.

It might make people think twice about getting their poxy phones out to film everything!

You can only really blame social media for the way it’s gone, he instant yearning to share something and gets to gratification in the form of likes or shares.

I was guilty of becoming absorbed by social media bit to cut a long story short my wife busted me messaging other birds so I had to close it all down for the sake of future peace and tranquillity.

But since then I’ve really noticed just how much everyone is on their phone in all scenarios. I hardly touch mine now so maybe uts that what makes me notice more

BBC news this morning had an article about Nikki Lauda’s Body lying in state in a cathedral in Vienna. There was a queue of people walking past the coffin and just everyone of them had their phone out taking pictures. Bit disrespectful I thought.

Right! Aside from the extra traffic queues that will be caused by plod pulling all the offenders over, it’s a genius way to teach the scum that these people are a lesson.

but it didn’t happen did it.

Toonsy, you can’t blame social media mate. It’s all up to the individual. I use facebook and have a phone. Do I gawk at some other poor sods misfortune… no. What we’ve got is a generation or two that seem to thrive on poxy phones, taking pic’s and video’s of anything and everything. Rubber necking should be made a serious offence attracting points, licence loss and large fines.

It did happen.
Wasn’t a bad accident but was plenty of coppers and highways there cleaning up the debris.
But the car driver in front was a proper idiot head out widow phone in hand . Talking loud traffic wasn’t really moving copper climbers over barrier had words with car driver lasted about 2 mins then sent him on his way.
Serious only time ever seen it happen

Yoy do see highways agency waving at people to get a move on instead of stopping but no one takes notice

Them Polizei cars have come to look a bit Vosa-ry - haven’t they?

you see highways agency plebs waving at people wishing they had some form of authority to make people pay them the slightest attention as once they are recognised for what they are, then they have about as much authority as a can rattler in a hi viz at the traffic lights.
anytime you see a marked car or van with relfective chevrons then you wake up for 2 seconds to see what it is.
once you decide its not plod and its a leccy van or roadworks/hato then its back to crack on and ignore as before.

As a young lad in the late 70s I was on for the local"roads depot traffic plod lost a car load and a "vosa person on the 74 north o Lockerbie and the car landed in the lap o a driver through the windscreen o a foden. IN all my years I was with the “roads” this was the only time I remember the cops going to town on traffic slowing down to look from the one lane open the crew in the traffic car waving the traffic on were losing it,they were pulling over the rubberneckers by the dozen further up the road(until they shut down the lanes totally),must be 40yrs ago but I remember this like last week .totally horrific scene . jimmy .7th November 1978 3cops 1 examiner ,and a wagon driver (can mind the companies name)in a wheelchair.

Police and highways are all just scum though aren’t they so why would you want them stopping people videoing accidents when they are such a waste of space?

Some on this forum will somehow turn it round to be another money making scheme.
