What about people who have paralysis through a bad accident, what about amputees, what about people with particularly bad backs, what about old people that still have all mental faculties but few physical ones…are they all thick as well, because they sure as hell will have difficulties dressing themselves.

But the OP is going deeper than just someones attire he is changing the way he refers to someone. Is it less insulting to refer to an individual as making poor choices in the clothing department than to call them a fool. Well slightly but your still judging them as a fool.
To even begin to comprehend the nature of ones excistence one must be prepared to change ones mindset totally and only then can you scratch the surface of understanding the nature of excistence in the limits of this reality.
Judging others is what we do on a daily basis even those that say we must not do this are referring to poorly translated passage in a certain scripture that has been so corrupted by other folks agendas that the original meaning has been lost.
What is actually meant is that we should judge ourselves as we do others, self critique is difficult but not impossible but the road to true enlightenment is to recognise the confusion in others as the same confusion we have in ourselves and help them with it in the same way as we would want to be helped.
Mankind since it became self aware has looked for answers in the wrong places, to find the answer to the big questions one must look within.
Only by being a fool are we qualified to see foolish ways in others but pause for a second and consider is it better to not know the answers as it is to not know the questions.
So dress as you wish as even the tattiest books have the most enlightened passages.
