A quick question, my friend passed his car test years ago and has grandfather rights for C1 and C1E but passed his cat C test in december 2009. He thought all he had to do was his 35 hours DCPC and has done 28 hours so far.
Now his employer is telling him he has to do the case study and another part to get his DCPC.
I am sure he would only need to complete one more day to get his CPC card but thought I would ask on here.

Thanks in advance for any info.
7 more hours only
He does not need mods 2 and 4 + The system will not allow him to do any initial modules
DCPC refers to LGV not specific LGV categories which his employer thinks it does

Given that the employer believes he can’t drive after September without doing the other two parts of the DCPC, it would be interesting to know why he thinks it’s legal for the driver to drive HGVs without those modules now
He has acquired rights so he just needs the 35 hours training before September 9th.
Yet again…scary stuff relating to managers/bosses’ not knowing the DCPC requirements!!!
How come they are not up to speed on this after almost 5 years? (much longer than that in reality - as it was banded about prior to the September 10th 2009 implementation date!!!).
Thanks for the replies, It is a Highway Maintenance company that he works for and the Transport Manager does not have a clue what he is doing. I work for the same company and cannot wait to leave, just waiting to do my ADR then I am away.
I have told everybody that passed their Cat C test after september 2009 that they need to do all four parts before they can drive but even our in house driving instructor says they can drive which is scary in my opinion.
I will let him know what he has to do and thanks again.

You need to add something to that … providing you do not already have a C1 on your licence perhaps from passing a car test before 1997
I know we’ve been here before but there should also be a responsibility on the LGV training provider to analyse the trainee’s licence and ensure they get good advice regarding their individual DCPC requirements during the licence acquisition training. After all they are spending lots of time with the trainee - either on a one to one basis or max. three in a cab. Surely it should be discussed on the way to and from test routes etc■■? Perfect opportunity to help everyone know where they stand and what is required of them for DCPC purposes.
Maybe the EU will sort it out before long, I have been invited to a seminar/congress meeting in Brussels in November, whereby they will discuss the aspect of compulsory training for HGV drivers with regards to road safety/drivers hours etc, so i am sure they will include everything a driver needs to know…just like the DCPC.
