Braveheart2009:
Does the course instructor require to notify the DVSA that a cpc card holder has accumulated the training hours?
Does the DCPC periodic training hours go on the card incrementally as you accumulate hours or only go on once full 35 hours is complete?
Do you receive a new DCPC updated date new card?
YES
The records get stored by DVLA + your course pass certificates
A new DQC gets issued a short time before the old one expires
You can check your dcpc records online

The training hours are not stored on your DQC but they are stored on a DVLA/DVSA database.
Sorry Rog but something’s not quite right in what you said
Once you have the next 35 hours your card is sent to you immediately and runs for 5 years from the date your current card expires. For example, I have 28 hours towards my next card. My current card expires in 2019 but if I did another day’s training this month my next card would be triggered and issued to me. It would expire in 2024.
There are some good DCPC trainers out there who run courses that are informative and entertaining. You owe it to yourselves to find them rather than spend your hard-earned money on anything sub-standard.
Just because you have to do it doesn’t mean it should be painful

I understand what you’re…
Saying there but, I do find it painful.
I find sitting in dull windowless rooms with half a dozen or so other lorry drivers painful.
I find listening to someone half my age who knows nothing about actually doing my job, telling me how to ■■■■ eggs, painful.
I find sitting through 35 hours of tediously boring, uninformative cobblers that ANYONE and I do mean ANYONE (a puppy could show up with the right money and still pass) painful.
I find paying half a weeks money for the above experiences excrutiatingly painful.

That used to be the case but they changed the rules on when a new DQC is issued

Sometimes working for a big company has its perks. I get paid to sit in a room for 7 hours with a bunch of other drivers.

Then do yourself a favour and find a trainer who does have a licence and does know what they are talking about. If you’re bored then you only have yourself to blame if you haven’t done any work to find the right courses for you.
Lots of work has been done recently to try and keep the courses interesting and informative. The last time I taught tacho hours etc at a company site we went outside and used one of the tachos on their lorry as it was the best way to learn and go through any errors people were making. We didn’t save anything so it was a good opportunity to learn and get things right.
Judging my the feedback they weren’t bored and have already booked me for their next course.
Also - don’t spend a week’s wages. Do 1 course a year then it’s only 1 day out of your life for around £60 quid all in (that’s the local going rate for around here, no idea where you are situated)
DD - sorry if that’s read as advertising, please delete if you think so

That’s the problem though…
I don’t want to take the ■■■■ course in the first place!
I don’t need any of the information I’m force fed. I’ve done this job safely, without infringement or prosecution for well over 34 years of my life. That includes thousands of miles in Europe and beyond, heavy haulage and wide load work.
It’s irrelevant wether or not the trainer knows the job. They could sit there all day and waffle on about goat farming in the Hindu Kush mountains, recite pi to a thousand numbers or discuss battering fish in Grimsby. I’m still gonna pass.
It doesn’t matter if I do one course a year or, the whole ■■■■■■■ thing in a week, it’s still half my weekly wage for something I neither want nor need, or asked for.
The way I see it, I have nothing whatsoever to blame myself for. I do blame the commie pinko bullshoot squad for foisting this utter waste of time on everyone, making it attendance only which completely removes any credibilty it might have had and effectively taxing me for doing my job.

We get paid at O/T rates (training done on a Saturday), with a free buffet lunch . Previous lot had us in on a normal weekday (but still provided lunch). If we have to travel to a different depot we get mileage as well. Still a bit boring - although nowhere near as brain deadeningly boring as sitting at some godforsaken RDC (not that I do RDC work anyway).
i think it’s ideal for new drivers in the industry, however they are mocked by the experienced drivers at your questions.
They also have tests but not official ones and make you look bad if you get more than 3 wrong answers they see you as an incompetent driver!
They even gave me a CD with everything on it so why not just give the cd as i find it more informative and to the point and can refer back to it anytime.
Just a money making scheme for the fictitious authorities.
