I’ve done none this time either ,trying to put it off until the weathers too bad on Saturdays to do anything eles .

Ok, so I get a choice on a wet Saturday.
Down the pub, watch the football for the afternoon with a couple of mates.

Or…

Sit in a classroom with a load of [zb] drivers (of which at least 1 will be annoyingly mind numbingly keen) listening to an even keener ■■■■■■ spouting a load of bs and ■■■■■■■■ for 8 hours.

I’ll get back to you.

Don’t go with Conor then

 No comment, Conor and me don’t have a pop at each other these days, everything’s cool…
It could be a LOT worse, I could be sat beside Carryfast!
Oh [zb] ! It’s all gonna kick off again now when he sees this  , I’ll just blame you Orange boy.

FTFY

I did mod 2 and 4 in 2012 that gave me until 2017. but since then I have done 35hours cpc so they sent me a new card. from 2014 until 2022…

basically you can have 10 years between spending another day in a classroom listening to a moron who probably hasn’t even got a class 2 licence go on telling you how to drive a class 2 truck.

I’m guessing most of us completed the driver CPC in 2012 which means that we will have to do it all again sometime within the next year… I’m wondering who has completed any of the modules or if everybody intends to leave it until the last minute? Personally, I haven’t done anything towards the next period yet.

Done [zb] all towards it up to now…no [zb] interest tbh.
Burying my head in sand hoping it will just go away (a bit like last time really) so yeh, looking like last minute again.

Although I have a cunning plan…gonna win the Lottery :sunglasses:  and chuck my licence to [zb].

There is an easier plan Old Pal with better odds unfortunately …Lose your licence on medical grounds and retire !
The crap bit is you have to do those 327 jobs the missus has been storing up for you

Only 327… your missus is going too easy on you pal. I lost on medical grounds in 07 and I’m still bloody going. Painting at the mo’.

done the first 7 hours of the second set of 35 hours last Saturday, wasent too bad, know the guy well who’s taking it,he’s done 6 years continental work, still takes an odd run into England for a couple of fairly big hauliers here in NI,so he knows what he’s talking about, makes it a bit easier taken in lol, however nothing comes cheap £75.00 pounds a day, that’s including a bacon bap for breakfast, an a good dinner as well, with your certificate presented to you at the end of each day,may seem a bit expensive, but it’s the best of a bad deal, far as I’m concerned, first place I done the dcpc, was £92.00 pounds a day,as I was between jobs an had to get it done, took the 5 days an got it sorted.

You had me worried there Harry, seems only like yesterday that I finished all the modules, had to check on my card :astonished:
Phew, OK till Sept 2019.

Actually, you are right, I’ve just checked mine and it is valid until 2019. However, I definitely did it in 2012, and thought it had to be renewed every five years?

Harry, you had to have your 35 hrs by Sept 2014 then that takes you to Sept 2019, I’m ok till Sept 2024, renewed my ADR 28 hrs and done a Tacho 7 hr all courses paid for and paid to attend also!

WITHIN every 5 years - not 5 years from completion

A driver with grandfather rights who did all 35 hours in oct 2009 could do the next 35 hours in August 2019

Looking at this from the other side of the fence (as a ‘moron’ or ‘even keener ■■■■■■’ :unamused: ) I am definitely seeing a lack of people coming back round, although a few do seem to be reappearing now. This may because I deliver crap training so they have no intention of coming back to me and have gone elsewhere  - or they are leaving it until nearer the deadline or in case it gets scrapped.

Some companies I speak say it is too early at the moment - why waste money on the drivers who may leave in the next few years (they like their employees eh?). Some say 'come back and see us nearer the time. Other companies and individuals quote the ‘We’ll be leaving Europe’ line as a reason to not do any hours towards the 2019 deadline because it’ll be scrapped by then.

In the last 18 months of the original 5 year period I was running courses 7 days a week with up to 3 separate courses in separate locations on some days (nights as well) and we were still turning people away as we couldn’t fit them in. I don’t use any other trainers now and won’t be doing so again (too much hassle) - so if everyone leaves it late I won’t be able to help them because there’s a max of 20 in a course and inevitably my courses will be full. I am currently running at 25% number of uploads to what I was doing in 2014 and 50% of what I was doing in 2013 - actually levels of uploads now are similar to 2012 so I am seeing this as a pattern likely to repeat.

I am sure some of you will have experienced difficulty getting a booking onto a course and the having to take what you can and maybe repeating the same topic numerous times as the last deadline approached … I expect it is going to be very similar again.

If we do ‘Brexit’ it isn’t going to happen straight away and I would imagine it’d be years before the DCPC went - if indeed it does. I know the DVSA say they want the DCPC to remain even if we leave Europe and I know the Traffic Commissioners are pushing for a similar scheme for TMs and Operators as they consider it good practice. I personally don’t think it would get scrapped … even if we Brexit.

I personally have got 14h towards my next 35 and I am looking to attend another course this year (I may be a ‘moron’ but I do have a CE licence) as I don’t see it going away by 2019. If DCPC is scrapped I’ll just stop being a moron and become a driver instead …

Done my 1st 7hrs, plan is to do 1 course/yr. Knee is ■■■■■■ with arthritis so just doing the odd shift just now to keep my hand in.

Did my fist one last week, only cost £12 to cover the upload fee as an agengy I do some limping for are subsidising the courses for their employees.
