That’s got to be 400 miles round trip, or thereabouts. Gonna be tight, very tight, to get back in a day as there’s not much wiggle room in that.

Good driver would do it, time for a collection in Swindon on the way back.

its like anything mate depends on traffic you might have driving time but get caught on a delivery point
as Coffeeholic says 400 miles average 50 = 8hrs drive but you gotta be lucky staying at 50 all day
maybe a 10hr drive you could but as said depends on traffic as you never know whats gonna happen

I would be taking my gear, but having a reasonable attempt. However 10 hour drives and 15 hour days are to get home on a Friday and not to be wasted on the first day of the week.

not a chance of stopping at 50 pal… my truck only does 54!!  ill be heading up to leeds, then down the A1… so there is going to be HUGE sections of 40MPH through the multitude of roadworks…

Thanks chaps, I shall take my night out bag!!

Maybe we should start an ‘unplanned night out thread’ sure it won’t cause any arguments…oh hang on a minute

Used to start at Hesketh bank collect load from honeywell skem, and tip at fords daghenham and back to hesketh bank regularly Apart from getting stuck on the biggest car park in the uk aka (M25) if timed correctly it was 9.5 -10hrs drive time, similar milage, exclude roadworks and its still possible

Yeh but it’s a bit like shoving a pineapple up your arse, possible , a bit tight , could cause you problems , and I wouldn’t want to attempt it :bulb:

Im putting a tenner on a night out. Who fancies a bet?!

Pointless Luke ive run out of drive time 50 mons short of destination because of the traffic… so looks like im out tonight  ive rang the boss and told him… he aint too pleased…

Lol

Well he needs to get a grip on reality then doesn’t he. Google maps would tell him that it’s close and thats assuming you get a clear run which is unlikely on a Monday morning. Like others have said. Save a 15, that’s more important on a Friday evening isn’t it to get back! Would be to me anyway

Personally I would not even attempted to get around it, but that’s just me. The problem is others would, and some ■■■■■■ heroes would have got round it by sitting on the limiter all bloody day, spoiling the job for the rest of the drivers.
If you did not get round it in your time, it’s reality telling you ( as most on here have) that it is TOO TIGHT…I refer you to my pineapple analogy, crude but accurate :bulb: .
I don’t know how long you have been in the job, I suspect rightly or wrongly you are fairly new? My angle on this ( from somebody who aint new) would be …If he ‘ain’t too pleased’ ■■■■ him!, at least he won’t give you the same run again will he.
It’s called setting your pace , if you had teararsed round and completed it you would have got to do it, and similar all the time, leading to a stressful job/life as a matter of course. :bulb:

Don’t let that ■■■■■■■ give you a hard time, you have done nothing wrong!

had 1 job where the tm said well its school holidays there shouldn’t be any traffic :open_mouth: well that went down like a lead balloon

I’ve done Wigan - Bath - Bristol - Swindon - Worcester - Wigan in a day before working for a cowboy outfit in my earlier days, so doable with some good luck & plenty of rushing.

I reckon the OP’s going to be away tonight.

“Luke ive run out of drive time 50 mons short of destination because of the traffic.”

"Trying to find suitable secure parking " should do you fine. Home in your own bed is always better !

Easy run that, we use to do Coventry to Sheerness tip & load, up to Sandtoft tip back to Coventry 512 miles, 9 hrs 40 mins

You Tell the young uns today that…and they won’t believe ya.

YOU HAD DINNER ? :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

We would have dreeeeeamed of eating gravel, would have been a feast to us, we had to drive home through a field until there was enough horse muck in our tyres to feed a family of 12, but it was dinner to us.
