Weeze bin out in the sticks today, Buzzer
Mann ing tree.
Reminds me of multiple wine collections in rural France.
View of the Charolais steers out the bedroom window this morning
John,Lovely morning, I hope you took âThe Bossâ a cup of tea in bed,
Have a good day
Regards Richard
Tother way round Richard, the Boss gets up at 0600 has a swim then takes the dog for a walk then brings me a cup of tea, only fair after the years of service I put in grafting day & night,. The boys donât realise that they were born with a golden spoon up there jacksies but I keep reminding them that if it was not for my efforts early on they would not be where they are today, I keep telling them that and in some cases the truth hurts, you know how it is mate, all the best to you & your lovely other half, cheers JD.
Do I hear the strains of violin music in the background or has someone stood on a cat
Wasnt Mr Unknown, Michel from Le Havre, drove for the family with the orange 2800âs?
Gazzer that picture was on months ago yes it was Michel he drove for Claude and Jackie Hogel pulling mainly for STS back in the day as they say.
Happy days!
In the winter time that service well deserved the âLove Boatâ tag, but in the summer it was a very busy crossing.
If I remember correctly your âCockney Markâ married one of the young ladies who danced on the boat?
A few other romances of aâŚuuummm⌠less permanent nature.. were also spoken of.
Mind you the same might be equally true of the Pompey boats.
More than one driver/crew marriage that I know of.
I saw Frankie Carson do a gig on that ship on New Years Eve.
I fell in love with Gina, the waitress in the drivers lounge, or long curly hair and those brown eyes.
I know exactly who you mean.
She was my fiancee.
I didnât exactly get around around to telling her thatâŚbut in my mindâŚ
She was often on shift with Sam(antha) . After Stena stopped I spoke with her a couple of times as she worked in Pompey for a while on the passenger desk portside. That is ages ago now.
Sam definitely rings a bell, another good looking lass.
Some very sad news this week, Roger Limburn who drove for us for nearly 28 years a record for us sadly passed while on holiday with his wife Julie in Tenerife, for or all of you who knew him and there are many, many drivers on International work that would have and either run with him or had a meal with him on the countless journeys he under took for us all over Europe. He was âMr Davies Internationalâ he never liked the UK but if we had a new job we would send him as he never had a problem and if he did he would sort it himself if he could, he will be greatly missed for sure proper old skool driver but more than that he was considered part of our family outside of work as well as on duty, he will always be remembered for that, RIP old mate sorry you never had longer in retirement, Buzzer or as you called me JD.
Very sorry to hear Roger has passed on. Thoughts with his family.
If I remember correctly I met him before he started on for you, Buzzer. Didnât he work out of south Wates for a company with blue tautliners? Had dinner with him a few times herânâthere. Always good company.
Yes mate Roger worked for T.D.Williams think for about 9 years before joining us, very sad but it comes to us all in the end, Buzzer.
PS. Rogers nickname was Wu Wa which stood for wind up, walk away, made the bullets but never fired them
Really sad news about Roger a really nice man. I too first met him when he drove for T.D.Williams doing car parts I believe from Le Mans/Tours area back to UK two trips a week I think but it was a long time ago. As you said buzzer he will be missed a true gent. Condolences to his family. Gerbil
