Axle, we still got those cab fridges as shown in this pic of Deegee making lunch. Some are probably getting on for 20 years old now. Never have a problem with them. They did cost a lot of at the time but looking back, money well spent!!

what these fridges??

In Civi(port of rome) waiting for custom clearance?

On the quayside we outshine the best of Cunard even on a wet n windy day!!

D.G talking the hind legs off Pete while the truck gets a quick wash :unamused:

Well done Andrew i think you did this so you can have the job of " on the road " photographer in 2013,cheers Buzzer.
PS. Gazzer and TIR Tone dont you wish you were still doin the Job.

Hi All.
. Dunno about Gazzer & Tir but I do. I pulled into M2 services for fuel on Wed.night on my way to Canterbury hospital and my old number plate was there. Times have changed Hommer and who ever else was around would have been standing around outside, at the least drinking coffee. Say hi to him from me,I’m sorry it was late and we couldn’t have a natter… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

To be honest Buzzer, I reckon that if I shipped out now, I,d be like a newbie again
what with the new motorways and bypasses, the new toll systems and the like,
I wouldn’t,t have a bloody clue now.
I enjoyed the job when I did it starting in 1976 until my last ever trip in 1999 and am always
Reminiscing about how it used to be.
I was lucky to have worked for several good firms ( and a few not so good ) over the years
But I have to say that my time with you was the best. ( please don’t take offence Richard if you read this )
We used to work hard and we played hard as they say…especially in the earlier years, but we were
made to feel part of the family, and we had a bloody laugh. I still miss the bosses breakfasts.
I,ve got my memories mate and I,ll stick with them.

Hi Tone,

No offence taken, you always looked after my gear when you used to change horses at Chalon in the old days   you always got 3 Italy trips out of a set of shoes and 4 bales of hay !! :unamused:
I know what you mean about the new roads, last time we drove to see Angie’s family in Italy, most of the old Routiers had closed, very sad :frowning:
We didn’t even have Ian (scatter cash) to pull our trailer up the Cenis   and save us some diesel.

Joking apart Andrew’s pics are a credit to John and all his family on building up,what must be one of the smartest fleets in the Country, especially the line up in Rome, long may it continue.

I hope you will drop in and see us over the festive period Tony, and anyone else who’s about.

Regards
Richard

Nice one Richard, but don’t brag about the horses, you know you only supplied asses. :unamused: :unamused:
I,ve got to agree with you about Buzzers fleet, always smart without being flash.
A credit to Horry and ■■■■■■ for keeping it going today, and Andrew keep taking the pics mate so
us old,ns can see what we,re missing these days.

I might just take you up on your invite Richard. Keep the brandy bottle handy mate.

Thanks for the kind comments Tony and Richard, i must admit i do feel good when i see a line up like that, it always used to worry me when we had to many trucks running together as usually things went ■■■■ up with some drivers having a little to much vino calapso but the boys seem to have a good bunch at the moment with no young ones wanting to do the job like in my days,Hers a pic of the one and only FL we had in between the FH’s,cheers Buzzer.

Too much vino John, Surely not?.

Just about enough to keep the precision machine oiled I would say…

Cheers
Neilf

Niel you know very well it was a necessary part of winding down at the end of the day, what with all the stress of coping!!! Um just coping… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Am currently parked up with Helmet and was very surprised to be offered a can of Fosters rather than the customary wine from the carton.

Maybe that Australian biking trip has wobbled his compass.

Cheers

Well John the trucks are still blue and white and there’s some familiar faces kicking about but other than that it’s totally different.

We have just the one job requiring two trailers and that’s the only time we’re parked up together other than if we’re in the yard.

I think that the only time whilst working for you that I had too much vino I was with my namesake and probably one of your more sensible drivers at the time, the professor.

We had both run down to Madrid from the UK with chocolate I think, it tipped at the same place as the chewing gum at esquivias. Arriving Sunday afternoon we wandered into the village to stretch our legs and have a cool beer. We found the whole village in the middle of some kind of festival and heaving with people. Bars were rammed and bands played in the town square. The atmosphere was great and everywhere you went people were handing out drinks. We stayed until the small hours and i remember being a little wobbly on the legs walking back to the truck. The next morning wasnt very pleasant although helped considerably by a constant feed of tea from the professor.

Cheers
Neilf
