Hi all, any one remember Bob Findley from Basingstoke aka Dr Findley, he was the magition who fixed volvo 16 speed gear boxes when they went wrong,did some for me and i think Rawlings he was mustard at them. Ithink he worked at Eaton at Basingstoke and was into heavy rock music,he used to go to concerts with his kids,another MH moment.

I’ve been browsing this site and thread for a while…( something to do with approaching the Big six O I think…nostalgia and all that…)

Great to see all the PGS trucks and old friends… I only had a short time on for you ( I was always short !) but I always remember those days with great affection. I send my very Best wishes to you, the Boss, Horrie and ■■■■■■ . It’s great to see that you are reaping the rewards of paying ridiculously low wages and having a great retirement… HA! Joking JD.

A little known fact is that when I moved up from the smoke at the age of 14 and went to Swanmore Kollidge of Knollidge " my best mate was Roy " winky " Talman… We lost contact at about 16 but bumped into him in Cherbourg circa 1995 when on for you…hadn’t seen him since schooldays…I had a 500 merc demonstrator and a brand spanking new cargobull trailer that I had scraped… he said " You never were any good Mitchell " with that trademark laugh " … :smiley:

Anyway , made of ■■■ papers and tin foil those Shmitz…

A shot in the dark here but did you ever drive for Martin Lyons Abadan Services in Fareham ? “Winky” was probably driving for me in 1995 !

Hi Richard, yes to driving for Martin Lyons… Abadan changed to Metrans then Satransco. I think Martin went to Frigoscandia after it all went Pete Tong. That was in 1980 I think…not seen or heard of him since then. Cheers Stu

Axle your grapes must be sour !!! You couldn’t be further from the truth !!! So if your looking to grind an axe may I suggest a blacksmith■■?

Well for your info Axle so far from the truth with your quote. Seems like the grapes have had a bad season due to the weather and turned sour!!! Never rely on YOUR grapevine you now how they get all twisted with age!!!
