Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

I’ve just seen a plea on FB from someone not sure who that need storage space for an old Mammoth Major 6 wheeler tanker . Its being kept outside at the moment in the Southampton area

A little sprinkling on Tracy Island of the white rain, get back up North of Wrighty country and beyond we dont want that down here, Buzzer.

A fella rang me today for a favour, his property borders the track going into my council Summer grazing and he has decided that February is a good time to dig a swimming pool in his garden needless to say conditions are not ideal this time of year. The problem being he is using the track for 6 wheeled grab lorry for muck away but it was neither designed or built for this sort of traffic, Knowing it was only a matter of time before one of these trucks would get stuck he knew I had a tractor but declining his request he had to seek alternative methods which were costly to say the least and to cap it all the track that he is destroying is not his.
The first wrecker from recovery specialists Avery was far too big for the access gate so he called for backup and it turned up some time later, a Foden ex army and he only just got in with several shunts, anyways the tipper was so deep in on the front axle he had to drop the spade at the back of the Foden and winch the thing out, I would have stood no chance with my little 60hp tractor, there will have to be alot of repair to the track to make it usable again and it has not rained here all week else it would have been far worse.
Avery’s is a very good outfit and I have used them personally when the gearbox went on me little Volvo, plus they went over the water a few years back to pull one of our big trucks back, also use them for MOT’s and repair work, needles to say I took loads of pictures just for the record so there is no blame attached to me, Buzzer.

Weather forecast up here for next week is warmer and rain

Does not seem like that long ago but time marches on at a pace, Buzzer.

Congratulations to you and the Family John on reaching the 50 year mark at DIT ! No mean achievement in todays business climate and many people will not know or understand the “Blood Sweat and Tears” over the years that went into getting to this milestone !. So here’s to the next 50 years ! Cheers Dennis.

Are your boys running through Austria Buzzer?

Saw this on the Hungarian Drivers TIR Portal on Facebook:

"Without a negative C.Test, no Austria Transit and, that’s the point, no entry from Tyrol to Bavaria/Germany because Tyrol is a ”Risk“ area…(Tyrol and Czech Rep.)
No information, no instructions, nothing! Outside -14*Celsius and waiting for the Test.
Like animals!
Restaurants, toilets and sanitary facilities have been closed for weeks.
The corrupt politicians don’t give a f**k about us!
We are not their slaves! "

Dean I would not want to pay for the cherry to fill her up let alone the machine itself, have not had a sqweek out of Wrighty for a fortnight, he must be still buried in a snowdrift or drowned in the mud but it does look a bit drier next week for a few days so we will soon be turning cattle out ha ha, chairs Buzzer.

Evening Buzzer

Well you were right spent last weekend frozen solid, no water in the house or buildings so were letting sheep out to water and buckets for the cows. We did get muck spread onto the wetter fields which was good but then on Sunday it started to thaw and we had two burst pipes to the house, luckily we managed to get a plumber on Monday so we are back to normal.
Last couple of days has been hellish wet so we are back to a bog again, busy calving cows and the yows are starting to lamb so some dry weather would be very welcome. Bad news on the cattle front the two bulls we sold at the end of Nov for £5700 and £3000 are now both dead, the first jumped a gate into some cast cows and broke his leg and the second slipped on ice last week and also broke his leg and had to be put down. farming can be a cruel job and as we know when you have livestock you will always have dead stock…

Cheers Wrighty.

i all, good to hear from you Wrighty don’t sound like you had a good week let’s hope it can only get better. Shame about the bull’s but accident’s happen still a shame though. :sunglasses:

Eye Wrighty dont sound like you had the best of weeks think your weather been harder than ours by the looks, seeing that picture of the cow & calf looks like he came out the side door, looks like a vet job and wondering what that costs nowadays, was it a breech or just too big to come out normal way ? weather looks to be more settled next 10 days or so and warming up a bit too, chairs Buzzer.
