This is “snapper” Morrison in sunny Scotland (not) about to come South, not raining in Tracy Island at the moment but lots more wet to come, as for my escapee steer when I fed the other two I put back in with him to calm him yesterday he was not having any of that and stayed 10 yards away from the gate, but today he did come out albeit a while after the other two and had a nibble so hopefully in a couple days we will knab him in the pen we put up, here’s hoping Buzzer.

Hi Wrighty do you think you could be kind enough to send some rain down South as we are in a drought situation (not) down here, gonna have to dig the canoe out soon, Buzzer.

Afternoon Buzzer

Well you are more than welcome to our rain, we had a very wet day yesterday and it’s turned everywhere into a bog. We have brought our tup lambs inside this morning and most of the cattle are enjoying the dry as well.
Busy up ere getting tups ready for sale on the 14th, 2 shearlings and three lambs to sell at the first sale, could do with a good sale to keep the wolf from the door… :open_mouth:
Back to it tomorrow not sure where yet so we shall see…

Cheers Wrighty.

Hey up Wrighty I can just see Alice standing over that tup plucking all the black hairs out so the white looks fuller, today I mustered the troops once more to catch Houdini and his two calming mates from the park, well instructions given about no noise etc to the troops went in the park could not see ought no sign walked half way across and then they spotted me and over took me into the trough and I managed to shut the gate on them and they turned and went straight into our catching pen, did not need anyone else but that was luck, anyway came back and trailered them home so TB test in the morning it is then. Buzzer.

Evening Buzzer

Aye Al’s a good hand with the tweesers but to be fair we haven’t done much at him, a quick wash and brush up and he will be in the ring. Just goes to show a bit of perseverance can work wonders when gathering up errant cattle, you did well to keep him in the pen when he realised what was going on. People have no idea what stockmanship entails, it’s not just about feeding em right as you well know.

Oily as Buzzer will confirm the auction job is a very fickle game, it will be nice if he does well we just need two bidders with deep pockets.

Cheers Wrighty

Wrighty you could have got summit on the trailer before you loaded it, wasted space and revenue    Buzzer.

Stress full day today as it was the reading of me TB test on 24 Lims don’t know why but always the same, no need to worry as all clear and done in 40 minutes thanks to help of a couple mates and a good handling system and I may add the Spanish female vet Maria who is absolute mustard on the yoke of the crush. Got someone viewing tomorrow with AV2Buy which I prefer.
Was going to Frome today but aborted that mission and just as well with 7mo Charolais steers making £920 for the best, the man sold 80 and averaged £860 across the board including heifers.
Stayed home & dismantled and washed the gates and crush and cleaned out the chooks, best really as if ide gone to Frome one may have been tempted, Buzzer.

I’m sure you could make good use of this Wrighty. May have to split the trailers to get into some of the farms you go to though.

Well sold me Limousine steers & heifers at home, a little less than I wanted but no haulage and no commission at the market just the Kite to pay in on Monday then have a look at some Charolais on Tuesday in Salisbury, At least when you sell at home you can decide if what you are getting is good enough, going to mart you never know, onwards and upwards Buzzer.

Don’t give the boss idea’s Colin we get enough on our standard trailers, I can get four tractors on mi 45’ Nooteboom at a push. I was in a tight spot on Wednesday at a place called Winterburn near Skipton, went in over a narrow bridge and came out round a 90 degree right hand bend around a house into a village called Hetton. Bloody hard work with 26 tonne of concrete panels on…

Good day at the auction today as we were selling horned gimmers, sold 50 with the top pen making £100 and an average of £83.50

Cheers Wrighty.

Hearing you Wrighty, makes you grit your teeth screwing it round with that weight, on dry roads. A fair spread on those trailer axles as well , tyres would be dissapearing under the wheel rims. Can you lift the tag with that weight on to manoeuvre, or does it come down automatically?
One consolation is the beautiful countryside up there.
Colin.

Morning Colin

We can transfer the weight off the tag onto the drive axle, which works alright but can take most of the weight off the front axle which makes steering difficult. It does make you cringe sometimes taking a nice motor through country lanes and hearing the branches clattering the roof top and scraping down the sides of the cab…

Cheers Wrighty.

Morning Wrighty, not a nice thought using a Topline to trim the hedges back! A regular problem in your game i presume, doing a lot of farms.
That beavertail is low eh? Looks like the number plate could have been incorporated into the section above for more ground clearance.
Reckon you would of breathed a sigh of relief when that tip was finished(scraping and bashing the outfit top and bottom). All in a days work.
Cheers. Colin.

This morning yard man PD off on a little jolly over the water, Buzzer.

Tipping side by side in France today, Buzzer.

Blast from the past Blakey & a young Horry at the mouth of the workshop in our old yard in Anderson’s Road, Southampton. Buzzer.

Breakfast for the Charolais stirk’s this morning, feeding in the corral now so ready to catch and move, soon be time for that, Buzzer.

Afternoon Buzzer

Well it looks a lot drier down with you than up ere, we spent all day Thursday getting the rest of the cows and calves inside. 50 in total we walked them about 1/2 mile back to the new shed then a 2 mile ride in the cattle trailer which took most of the day by the time we sorted them into the right buildings etc. To be fair it’s not been a bad weekend weather wise but it was time they were in, and it should leave some grass on for when we start turning lambs out in the spring.
Busy week in the truck Carnwath on Monday and Ipswich on Tuesday so getting plenty of miles in, not sure where were heading tomorrow so we shall see.

Cheers Wrighty.
