Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Buzzer. That photo is either Scattercash or his double. Yes I’m not too

keen on the Wheeatsheaf as last year I wasn’t feeling 100%. And then Tim

chargesd me a fiver for a pint of cider. Not happy. However I shall go wherever

everyone goes. Times getting on eh? Hope all is well with you and the family.

Belated birthday wishes mate. Regards Charlie

Well it has been peeing down most of the morning which I am very pleased about as we need it bad, this will benefit the grass no end but due to get hot again later in the week. Too wet to go and pick any beans so that will have to wait and need a short break so I can go and get the eggs and feed the chooks. Tomorrow I hope to get the Charolaise stores out to grass then its just walking round checking them daily to make sure all is ok.
On the picture below I read somewhere that baler knotters were invented after a farmer watch his dog playing with a bit of string and he emulated the action and invented the knotter mechanism, weather that is true I am not sure but what an invention it was, bit like a bale wrapper I could watch that in action all day, Buzzer

Do you still have to transfer water to the field chap or have you rigged up a water supply now.

zzzz on

What a scoop courtesy of John Linsdale today when he came to get his eggs, almost an aerial shot of our old yard in Andersons road plus the old and new Lorraine’s lorry park. you can see our workshop and the café and if you look really hard you can see old George in the booth in the old Lorraines and Horry washing off a trailer, defo Mary Hopkins Moment that one, Buzzer

Hi Dean an update on the Charolais I turned out on Tuesday, last night me and the dog went to check on them and we walked the entire 50 acres and in the end spotted them right out on the marsh by the river, don’t understand them as the field I cut 6 weeks ago has a nice new growth of lush tender grass and they go out there, cheers Buzzer.

Hi all, Micky Hughes another really nice man always makes me laugh.he always reminded me of Freddy from \Freddy and the Dreamer’s. As Buzzer would say another Mary Hopkin’s moment. :sunglasses:

Agreed a genuinely nice and helpful guy.
He held my hand on my first trip “over the water”, when he had that half-cab Leyland.

By the way Micky Hughes sold that Merc truck to Barry Barnes who took it on a one way trip to the Middle East, he started as an OD doing ME then he used to drive for Astran and in the latter years bought a truck and trailer and did one way work coming home on the paraffin parrot, he reckoned that trip in that Stuttgart hill stopper was the longest it ever took him, Buzzer

Quick tranship and out, out to Germany via Hull to Holland, Buzzer

Busy boy today first thing went down the marsh with the water bowser and found the cattle in the big field so got some better pictures of them, they look well settled in and I could count them which is a bonus and all present and correct, they look well as they are only 7 to 11mo and got some shape to them. After that I strimmed some weeds and round the lawn edge then mowed tha and the private footpath we share. Watered all the bean rows, they had an hour each through the weeper hoses which put the water where it is needed.
Went on a trip to Lee on the Solent, had a little tray of sausage and chips shared with the Boss and the dog and sat and people watched for an hour then home had a quick cup of tea and then went bean picking, French first and got 5lb then started on the runners did one row got 8lb and then rain stopped play which was a surprise as we were not supposed to get any. Roast lamb for tea and then as the sun is back out got to pick the other row of runners its all go, Buzzer.

Funny how where ever you go there is junk food on offer, was crap, is crap, will always be crap, don’t know how people eat that crap, Buzzer

Thanks mate they do try there best even though I am not there anymore, just come indoors from fox watch not seen one here for ages but last night when my Mrs was toileting the dog she heard the chicken cackling just before 9pm and saw a fox run down the hedge row so tonight I waited an hour with me gun just in case he came back, don’t think he got ought last night but once they got a taste they keep coming back, Buzzer.

What a very hot day we had yesterday and another looks likely today, don’t like it too hot and it reminds me of driving in Italy when you could not wait the spend 3000 lira to get a shower in Campogalliano then have a nice meal in the cooperative run restaurant down stairs. Also remember waiting to load Tomatoes in Southern Spain in a little pack house, there was a block of four showers no doors on I might add just cubicles and I don’t think they had ever been used, it took half an hour to clean the dust and crap up before usable but was worth it even though it was only cold water, the toilets were in the same order and you needed your own paper as the system could not take used wipe and a bucket was positioned for this waste and don’t know who had the enviable task of emptying that little gem.
Waited to the evening to take the water bowser down to the Charolais down on the marsh, cleaned out the large tank once again and as I was refilling they appeared from no where, very inquisitive and quite quiet considering, the Boss accompanied me on this mission so that was handy to have someone to open all the gates, back home and a cup of tea which has got to be the best freshener there is, cheers Buzzer
