Hi all thank’s for that Buzzer i did need a bit of farming input there was not much about farming on country file last night so good to hear from you and what your up to.I expect wrighty is still busy with the last of his lambing this weekend. :sunglasses:

Kev are you watching " Spring on the farm " on channel 5 at 8pm on all this week mate very hands on and a lot better than Country File, Buzzer.

Hi buzzer no i looked at it and it said there was actor’s from Emerdale and the archer’s so that put me of a bit. May take a look tonight if it’s any good. :sunglasses:

Well Kev just to keep you & all up to date went to Salisbury Market today as a special Aberdeen Angus sale plus others over 700 head and never seen that many in that market before.
The younger beef bred stuff was making silly money far too dear for me but I was looking at 18 to 20mo stuff, watched lots go through and in the end got a bunch of nine so that’s it for the moment and the tally is now 31. Another three weeks or so and they will be out to grass so less work then just checking and making sure they have water, cheers Buzzer.

Hi buzzer not a bad looking bunch is 31 enough know. It should be ok for them to go out in a few week’s if this weather keep’s up. Does it get a bit boggy down by the river. :sunglasses:

Kev the 1st of May I can turn 12 out on the Marsh and I am contemplating weather to use 6 acres I had planned for haylage then follow on to the 15 acres of the park we got “Torro” out of when you assisted. You have to work out the values of bales of feed you may get against buying it in, I may change strategies this year and get ris of this bunch end of October and buy some younger ones who do not eat as much to keep in through the Winter, watch this space.
May try and get three more on Tuesday just to round the numbers up as it will be a lot easier when they are all out to grass, watch this space. As for the marsh ground the main fields are not to bad underfoot but as it is a bit damp the grass keeps growing even last year in all that heat but we had to take water down as no main supply, Buzzer

Cattle being driven from the market below Bar Southampton to the abbatoir further up the high street, bet not many realised this went on in years gone bye, Buzzer

Hi all, buzzer where was the abattoir in the high street then. When did it close. :sunglasses:

Kev I know I bin around a few years but even that was before my time but back then there was not the cars etc most either walked or caught a bus or tram I will do a bit of digging and see if I can find out, on another note I found this shot of a Bristol Freighter on which one like it I was transported in going on a family holiday in a Morris Cowley 1/2 to van, we flew out of Hurn to Cherbourg and as an 8/9yo remember trying to count the rivets on the wings. The nose cone opened up on them and there was room for about three cars in the hold, the old man was quite adventurous and as a kid I had been all over Europe before I started driving over there, cheers Buzzer.

Dispatcher will remember those flying over our old school which was in line of the runway, they were no more than 50 feet above us.

Hi Nigel remember it well, we also used unload Channel Isle produce from them at Eastleigh

Hi John,

I remember spending a long weekend in Vix France with your father and a few others at Andy Youngs place, his French was excellent and wherever we went they thought he was a local.

Richard

Salisbury today but only got two more steers to add to the bunch which is at a total of 33 now which is nearly enough for me, cheers Buzzer.
