Evening Buzzer

A nice change this week taking panels up into the highlands, now back home for three days of farming looking like some silage bailing tomorrow…

Cheers Wrighty.

Hi wrighty, seeing new landscapes eh, over to Ardgour on the ferry, that last bit of single track Salen to Glenborrodale a bit tricky with your wagon, the Ardnamurchan Penninsula, wild country.
Oily

It was certainly an eye opener Oily single track road and progress was pretty slow what with cars coaches and cyclists, final destination was the Adelphi distillery with concrete panels for three new whisky stores.

Cheers Wrighty.

Of to market we shall go, took me 23 calves to Salisbury today to sell and they were the only ones of that age group there at 6 months old. They did have a bit of ringworm which puts some buyers off but we had treated it and they made a tad under what I wanted but not bad on the day. All the other cattle were much older and I was interested in some cracking Simmental steers out of big Friesian cows but when they were put in at a grand & ended up at £1100 I knew they were not for me, truck back to Scania’s for its MOT Wed or Thursday if the VOSA tester turns up, Buzzer.

One from Chip’s Odopolus’s travels in France, the Millau viaduct probably paid for with our money and designed by a Brit too I think, Buzzer.

My B&B overnight guests in the barn from Derby and there owner still soundo, I got to Gel on to Frome Market, Buzzer.

Evening Buzzer

Been another busy week up ere on the machinery now back home for a weekend of relaxing farming, busy with heifers calving and getting mule gimmers ready for the sale on the 12th of September. Swaledale tups to get ready for the October sales, and we’ve got our last field of grass down to try and get into hay but it may end up as silage depending on the weather.

Cheers Wrighty.

Went to Frome Market yesterday and bid on several lots of cattle but always got pushed to high for me and ended up being bought by agents supplying end users in ■■■■■■■ and the like, the trade very buoyant still and in fact there never was a summer lull as usual but did manage to secure five more Sim X steers so load up on the newly tested Merc and home. Had to tranship into me tractor cattle trailer to take to the pasture and let them go with the others, then the customary lets charge round a bit and find the boundary’s then settle. Of course then had to wash out both units with a pressure washer so that did not take too long but still could do with a few more cattle for over winter, Buzzer

Well Ive gotten in to the buying mode for sure, went 6 miles this morning and bought thirteen 7 to 9 month old pure Simmental calves 8steers &five heifers picking up on Thursday, they are cracking things with backends like buses and another ten to follow on in October. Checked the newbies down on the marsh and they seem to have integrated well so all fine there, cheers Buzzer.

Truck picture today of one of ours just done a ship stores job on to this beauty, other than that me and my mate got the shed ready for the impending arrival of yesterdays purchase next weekend and its been giving it some with the rain here today but a nice roast lamb dinner awaits so not all bad, Buzzer.

Evening Buzzer

Those simmys look the business and should do you well, whats the plan finnish them inside or run them on as stores and sell later on…
Well it’s been a hectic weekend up ere and we finally managed to bale some hay!!!,not bad stuff so we will be feeding it to the horned gimmers through winter.
Also baled some into round bales and then went and did some for a neighbour, got back in the house last night at 10.30pm so all in all quite a long day.
Back to it tomorrow with three drops up Scotland finishing at Elgin so that should keep us going, and like youurself I was also treated to a roast dinner with all the trimmings thanks to Alice who also mowed mi lawn as well what a star…

Cheers Wrighty.

You want to get one like this Buzzer !

Dean when I was a kid growing up on the farm me old man had a bull called “Rumple Stilskin” and he used to sit me and my two sisters on his back all at the same time and take him for a walk but don’t fancy it now, never trust a bull however quiet he may seem bit like a woman really, Buzzer.

Dont blame you, that farmer probably had it from a calf ,but i agree any animal can turn !

Charlie

You’ve never been down on your luck in all the years I’ve known you,I hope Rose is well.

Buzzer has had to sell his Merc and all his livestock to finance the extension, this is what he’s left with !!

Regards
Richard

Busy today as cadged a lift of a mate going to Reading to drop me of in Maidenhead and bought meself a nice little 14 ton FL Volvo ex Surrey fire brigade, its on a V plate year 2000 only 175K’s on it and every thing is as tight as a nuns pervervial in fact it is so clean I might have to get a new box made to go on the back as I don’t want to spoil it by putting a not so good second hand one on even though I know where there is one.
On the farming front when I had me lunch I went and picked up the weaned steers I bought on Saturday, cracking things just hope they don’t holler too much during the night when they realise there mums aint here with them, on another note opened the first bale of haylage I made in June and what some cracking stuff, it smelt that good I nearly had a mouthful mesen as Wrighty would say, Cheers Buzzer.

True to form these new calves have not stopped hollering for the two days they have been here but they will stop soon, they did not know what beef nuts were but they do now and it wont be long before they clear them straight away, well pleased with them and option on another ten in a couple of months from the same place when they are weaned, Buzzer.

Waiting to tip in Southampton this morning & this came round the corner it’s V77 driven by Andy as Wuwa still on hollibobs

Still looks better than the truck your driving Snapper, simple design and very classy & not overstated just like myself eh, Buzzer
