Oily my mate had one of them, he never ran it made it into a bale trailer like we all did the number was TTR 5 and that would be worth a bit nowadays but hindsight is wonderful, Buzzer.

Thinking of registrations, local company I worked for in the 60s had a couple of Albion Reivers with the reg 500 DCR and 17 COW, probably would be worth a shilling or two to the right man. As said hindsight is wonderful.

My first truck was DS 5661. I tried to sell the number to a certain Milnthorpe haulier (I’m sure he won’t remember!) he was interested, but it turned out that at that time only car numbers could be transferred.

John

All our trucks have GEL plus two digits the same also we have RI GEL, some on there third new truck as the DVLA got greedy, my own is
GEL 555 which is on retention no posh motor to put it on that is till I find a nice Austin Healy 3000, Buzzer.

Used to have 2 seddons LTR 7&8

Buzzer:
Wrighty sounds like you been a busy boy, I don’t have those problems with oil pipes as we got a very good mobile man who is pretty rapid if you need him to be and he’s got fittings and a swager fitted in his high top van plus he likes a bit of folding so no VAT either.
Nice and bright here today but a chill in the breeze though, first job was to join up barbed wire where a branch detached itself and fell on said fence but a simple fix and all done in under an hour. Next on the agenda was replacing a gate post I broke of when I hit it with the topper on me way out last week but I had a post of the same calibre with hinges already fitted and the old post had been lifted out of its hole many times to allow the wide hay turner in, so cut it off to the right height and was going great guns till the hinges were different settings. Soon remedied that by drilling another hole for the adjuster bolt job done all but the latch but that will be another day.
Home on the trusty 590 tractor with a bale of haylage but when I went to turn in to the barn had no steering, well that was that just drove forward in a straight line and parked then phoned for assistance from me Massey man and he sussed it straight away, apparently the casings cracked and its jumping the splines a job he’s done a few times before for other people, They are picking her up tomorrow morning on a low loader to take for repair. good job I got the Avant in the shed.
As you say Wrighty it never all runs smoothly always something to mess the day up but we cope coz we have too, cheers Buzzer.

PS. Pete we used to have churn collections on me old mans farm and in the spring time when the cows were giving extra milk the haulier had a greed cage on top of the other churns and got another dozen or so bonus churns on. Also I now go and buy raw Jersey milk from a farm near me and it makes the porridge in a different class.

Hi Buzzer,
My Dad told me that when up Liverpool docks he witnessed a lad put 4 ton of cattle feed on top of his empty churns as a back load to Shropshire, it was a Bedford S type, the motor would have rocked and rolled a bit and it must have been a bit of a challenge unloading as well!

Cold old night just gone as I found when walking the dog this morning but nice and crisp and none of the wet stuff, 11am and they arrived with tractor and low loader to take away me Massey 590 with the busted steering, quite a job to load without directional control but we got there in the end and she is now awaiting new bits to arrive to fix her, quite amazing really you can pick up the phone and order summit for a 36yo tractor just like that.
After this went out and about buying bits and bobs, fencing bolts and the like plus me raw Jersey milk for me morning porridge and some fruit and the most important bit was a new charger for the Grankids tablets or what ever they call em.
While out and about bumped into a fellow ex International driver near Fareham who now drives an eight wheeler plant truck, he told me he cant wait to retire like Mappo and Qwozzy and lounge about in an armchair like them, he told me to get them to save one for him when he retires, cheers Buzzer.

I bet you glow in the dark Kevin.

Still a fine figure of a man though.

Looking at you makes me feel old. Well I am. Regards Charlie

Spot on Oiltreader never a truer word written, we used to have a sticker in the back of our pick up which read ā€œDon’t criticise farmers with your mouth fullā€.
That is one classy motor, the Dutch certainly know how to paint trucks although it could do with losing the Michelin men…

Cheers Wrighty.

Mate you must have gone to super specsavers, I blew that picture up and still could not read that, thought you all meant the " SUPER " chrome badge which takes me back to my 110 Scania I had a Chromed badge on her " International " of a B275 tractor wonder it never got nicked as I had a few Dutch try and buy it off me, also they liked the Rubblelight round winker lenses instead of the pointed ones, the same as the red lenses, they were a lot easier to remove when they were wet and with road slime on em, had a few sets of them nicked in me time though, Buzzer.
