hope this guy isn’t in too much of a hurry seen stuck behind the major incident in on m20 today.

Bit close for comfort there Buzzer.

Buzzer, written very well, yes you are right ,that common thread ,of agriculture probably installed by our parents ,as Oiltrear has put so very well ,all those gardening techniques,we took for granted by watching ,in my case my dad,are probably alien to most people this day and age ,only sort of" posh" ,lar-de-dahs want allotments because of watching monty -don on telly, not for the original reason to feed your own family…
pleased he has joined the "DAVIS ARCHERS "

I suspect he would be a senior member, probably like us all on here, has probly most times, just kept quite and got on with his life and job, yes, i thought the “poles " might have been a error ,my only measurement that comes to my mind in a instance is the Fathom =6 foot,if i hold my arms outstretched,it is a” fathom", i am 6 foot,14 stone "wet through"and 72… like us all he has a found a enjoyable outlet The computer and of course this forum and DAVIS INTERNATIONAL,POSTS…it makes up for all those "years ,it would be years ,of being in that old cab solo.

I would put money on that if we could have had a job like wrighty, none of us would have got into EUROPEAN, he seems very content with his lot, that is a good thing,i do wonder moving all theses diary products from one factory plant to another ,dried milk powder ,butter ,all different products ,we must have a glut of diary cows, all the Gov subsidies, supermarkets , butter mountains,[and i bet we still import from N.Z.AND AUSSIE] LOOK AT AL THE HAULAGE the top of the range trucks, price of diesel, wages ,all from “GRASS”.ANOTHER CROP think of the money, from hay sales, then buying for all the machines and tractors ,all money making enterprises from GRASS…and no one likes grass on or in their garden, does not make sense does it…or is it me. lol pdb

Hi mate very close call that and came as a bit of a shock to the driver but there is nothing you can do in those circumstances, my son Steven took the call from the driver and at first it was hard to take in what he was saying and I heard the conversation first hand as he was at my place when the call came in.
Just goes to show when you set off on a journey you never know what is round the next corner, when I think back at the miles I have done in a truck over the years I have seen bad accidents like in Italy in the fog by Bergamo, on that occasion we gave up straight away and parked up having loaded washing machines. You could not get on the motorway anyway so it was a delay but in hindsight was the best option and waited for eight hours and went on our way then which was much safer.
In the end all the vehicles today were eventually turned round and redirected as it will no doubt take some time to sort out not just the debris but an enquiry into how the hell the big low loader hit the bridge in the first place, this was not evident at first but apparently that’s what happened.
A delay in delivery but at least on this occasion it is on national news so they knew we were not fibbing about being late never the less this could have been far worse and does it not always happen on a busy bank holiday weekend, sods law cheers Buzzer.

There but for the grace of God Buzzer ! I recall at some time in the 80’s there had been heavy fog over the M62 and in the evening I was sat having our evening meal and on BBC News Northwest they were showing footage of the carnage that the fog had caused on the M62 and as the camera panned along the wreckage it got to the end then there was a gap of a few yards and there standing unscathed was one of our 112’s/and Tautliner then a few yards behind our motor the carnage started again for a few hundred yards ! I nearly choked on my “beans on toast” Our Driver was Eric Atkinson one of the old school and one of our top lads at the time. I still see him regular when I’m down his neck of the woods ! Cheers Dennis.

Dennis when that incident occurred in Italy with me you could stand outside the cab as we all did and here the soppy gits banging into each other, I have been in similar conditions in that country and the dopy gits get in the middle lane giving it some and I am sure they thought they had radar or peerless vision there reasoning for being in the middle that if they did have another vehicle appear in front of them they could dive either side, madness.
Beans on toast for your evening dinner who you trying to kid, less they came of a pallet on one of your trailers, thought you up there lived of steak and all the trimmings. Plenty of rain so plenty of grass thus you have plenty of beef. I will now retire with me tin hat on and wiat for the retort, Buzzer.

Morning Buzzer

Well that’s it tipping my last load this week, a load of cream at Peterborough then a 4hr run back to Lancaster wash off then an hours drive back up to Wensleydale. Two days off then in for three then going to Cyprus for a week of rest and recuperation…can’t wait.

Cheers Wrighty.

WP_20160828_001.jpg

Wrighty when you go to Cyprus don’t forget to take some shots of livestock and trucks in between enjoying yourselves, my mate has a house out there but he only goes in March and October as he says it too hot there in the summer months. We keep getting told we are going to have rain but it’s not happened yet and we definitely need it, giving the sucklers a bit of haylage but they still prefer to pick at the grass even though there is not a lot there and the calves have a creep feed now. The cows know whats in it but cant get it and this must be frustrating for them, Cheers Buzzer.

Have a look at all the pictures on the BBC website, the guy on the motorbike should go and buy a lottery ticket I reckon.

I seen that… How he only has broken ribs is beyond me. In fact how the whole thing wasnt a lot more serious i cant comprehend. Buzzer i bet that phone call was very wtf… like is this happening or what.

As I said I was by my Steven when that call came in and the driver is a very sensible chap so you knew what he was saying was not a wind up, all in all a lucky escape there and its a miracle no one is dead or seriously hurt, Buzzer

Yes Buzzer, your man was very lucky,he maybe have a bit of shock come in later on ,he will be fine now ,however i am the last to tell you to ■■■■ eggs,it happens to the hardest of us relive me and you dont know what it is…

As for the cows on the muck,"maybe hormonal "its like why do dogs love to rub their necks in animal poop?

As for the bridge accident, on the sky site yesterday i noticed the low loader on the hard shoulder and he has a larger digger ,r b something, and on the end of the folded down jib there is a white mark, like paint, or concrete, i do not know if the cause has been established
.
, i have just got in from the garden ,no not sun bathing talking to my neighbour over the fence…all you truckers out there who spend hours on your own every day you are not on your own ,us poor old pensioners do as well so a neighbour captured is a pleasant change from domestic bliss■■? .

Wrighty a holiday as well, blimey what a job,if i lived near i would do your shifts, all that cream, and cheese ,yogurts subsidised breakfasts.
Buzzer i like the calf creep ,i have never heard of them, good idea, they would have been good on some of the ferry’s in the drivers dining rooms .on the hull boats the food was al ways good ,but some of our little piggy’s would not be satisfied with a massive breakfast ,they would take as many sausages as the could in tissues
for the rest of the day and think it was clever god knows what the stewards thought …but that was some of the men you worked with…pdb
for the rest of the day.absolute typicial i am afriad to say

Mr Bull and some of his girls having a munch, they did not take much notice of me up close but better them used to me and quiet and as for the youngen’s still a bit of milk from mum even at that size Buzzer.

Haa ,Buzzer ,that old suckling thing, never leaves any male species ,we will say a inherited trait…

Spotted R11 GEL coming out of Dover on Sunday morning

Early morning visit to the veg patch and the French climbing beans are still producing even though they look half dead on the frames and some Charlotte spuds as well which still scrape quite easily. Must have sold 40 bags of beans both runners and French at the door and at £1 a go it at least pays for all the seeds.
Must take this opportunity to wish Wrighty and Alice a nice vacation in Cyprus just hope its not too hot for you both and as I said don’t forget to bring back some pictures of trucks and farm life should you have time, cheers Buzzer.

Cheers Buzzer

Looking forward to getting away just another day at work to do, sat on a farm at Southwaite writing this whilst waiting for my tank to be filled then off to Leeds to tip this afternoon. Will try and get some photos of farming and trucking Cypriot style, not been on here much recently thanks to that shower that call themselves BT. Been without broadband for over a week now, bloody useless customer service…rant over.

Cheers Wrighty.

Nice lineup of backends in that creep feeder Wrighty, what do you feed them with in there, I just give a few beef nuts and my mate thinks ime mad giving money to the miller but I think it definitely helps them on there way when they need it.
Take it the other picture is holiday traffic you just cant go any where we out cars in’t road, the best place to go is Argate no holdups there, Buzzer.

Evening Buzzer

We feed them a rolled barley/ sugar beet mix as we find it cheaper than nuts and does them just as well, we feed them as soon as possible after calving as this helps the cows keep condition better especially when the cow is in calf again.
It’s not cheap feeding calves but it pays in the long run and certainly helps us get them away sooner and hopefully at a better price…

Cheers Wrighty.
