A nice looking tidy fleet you have there Buzzer, nice and tidy livery a real credit to you and the lads for keeping them that way, Thanks for posting the pictures Andrew, Cheer’s Pete

Thanks for the pictures “snapper” this will please your ardent followers on this thread shame it’s going to be short lived as I here you are on the move again after your temp stint back at Tracy Island but I here you have still left the door ajar for a return. You are a rolling stone Andrew and you will have to go some to beat Keith Mapson’s record for come backs as he has more than Arnie, cheers Buzzer.

I’ve got to say Buzzer that your family run a reet tidy fleet and it is a credit to them and I sincerely mean that ! However, is it because of you or in spite of you ? ( Couldn’t resist !) But am I reading this right “snapper” is jacking again ? I wouldn’t have took him back in the first place ( I’m sorry if I’ve misunderstood though!) Cheers Dennis.

Fair enough Andrew, we had a number of regular part timers over the years and they did a good job at times when we were busy or short handed ! I wasn’t aware you were just back casual like so I apologise mate ! It just sounded like you were a “here to-day gone tomorrow” driver !! Cheers Dennis.

Now this looks like a tasty bit of kit more to my liking than the modern stuff, could see me with one of those, Buzzer.

Out for a Sunday morning drive with the Boss we came across this chap parked on the hard just taking in the view looking down the river Hamble, the car is a 1915 model ? Ford and when asked if he restored it his reply was much as it was found and looked in pretty good shape, does about 35MPH and he hailed from Bishops Waltham, you never know what you are going to bump in to on your travels, cheers Buzzer

Great shot Buzzer ! if I had to choose it would have to be your outfit !! And anyway how come you haven’t got your new acquisition in harness ? Cheers Dennis.

plus I would say that your rig has 1 hp more than the car

hi buzzer, totally off thread but there is a thread on the pdf concerning a international driver who passed away whilst working in Italy and the way his company are handling the situation. i’m sure a lot of us would like your take on this considering you and your family’s vast experience in this line of transport.
I fully understand if you don’t want to comment but it might answer some questions.

regards berni

Man rules we have never had a driver die abroad on duty, we have had one who fitted and we sent another driver out to spain to bring back the truck, on another occasion we had a driver who went into the back of an Italian trailer at night with no lights and the ITI ■■■■■■ of, the driver was trapped by his legs both of which were broken so we had him air lifted home in a red cross plane (very expensive) when he got back here they rebroke his legs as the ITI’s did not do it straight, hardly surprising that. We have had a driver die in the yard in his cab, he got up at 7.30 not feeling well and another driver said shall I call a paramedic which he declined and in 20 minuets he was dead sat in the drivers seat.
Then the red tape begins, call the police who called a doctor to verify he was dead and ambulance to take him away but they are not allowed to remove the body so the fire brigade came to do that, we had to screen the truck with a couple of trailers and build a platform with pallets to make the job easier which all seemed to take ages. After they had all gone we had to have the cab of the truck de sanitised as when some one dies every thing relaxes in the body and we had to get a specialist firm for that job. The only good thing was it was the police who had to tell his wife not us but we have had circumstances when a driver has a mum or dad pass and you have to be very sensitive if they are in a K100 truck outfit of the companies well into Europe as you never know how they may react to the bad news, all are different. The way we have always done this is to try and get another of our drivers with the person concerned so at least he is with someone he knows when you break the news, this has happened on several occasions in my time, then if they are ok you turn them round as soon as possible with another driver to get them home the soonest you can. At the end of the day once a relative has died there is nothing they can do even if they were here but you have to treat each situation with great care, hope this answers your question as to how we handle a situation at our company.
Dennis I drove me knew horse earlier in the week with me other one, there legs match in length of white and look more impressive so may leave them together as a pair, plus the girls were not available to put the team in together. Did ask the fella in the Ford if he wanted to swop but he declined as he said his car was cheaper on fodder.
Did the rounds this afternoon checking the cattle as you do, the steers on the marsh ground were hiding under some bushes and trees in the shade, although it is very breezy where they are as it comes off the sea its better for them in the shade, could not count the ten that are down there but they followed me into the open and they were all present and correct, the grass does not stop growing down there as the ground is always damp and they have loads to eat.
Then checked on the suckler cows and calves, they have not so much grass as that field is on gravel but I have put a round feeder in with haylage so they don’t go hungry but they still prefer to pick at the grass. Took this shot of one of the calves sucking his mum and when he bunts he nearly tips her over and they are all growing fast. Going to put a creep feeder in next week to give them a few beef nuts and keep them happy.
Well that’s a bit of farming update as you have had “snapper” back doing the truck bit for you all, cheers Buzzer.
