Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Very nice house, lots of work for the old dyson.do you have specific cleaning days, we do here, there is only the two of us, but you would think a regiment lived here. i still do the old kitchen and bathroom floor on my hands and knees, soap and bucket…nutty or what, only a bungalow. old deck boy days…

I have not really been around horses at all, I remember sitting on the old cart when about 12 ish it was full of sacks of grain how they lifted them I do not know, they used to poke a ash plant down the middle of the open sack ,to let it air I suppose I can see it now rows or sticks sticking out of sacks, and dusty, with the old cart horse ■■■■■■■ along, making us all giggle , they used to let us hold the reins, but the old horse new his way around as well as us, but we thought we were DRIVING ,but we were all ways told to keep out of the way. and we did, and had nothing to do with a horse i expect that stuck by me…

The bee mosaic, is very good , my now passed away auntie, used to call most men “BLODDY DRONES” .I never new why un till I got into reading about Bees. When we were kids she used to wear mens clothing ,on the farm/quarry, they had ,in sussex but never understood why, until much older. HA “emph”
she mixed with royalty, ended Up house keeper at CHATSWORH HOUSE.A tree is planted in the grounds for her . However it was her who introduced me into driving lorries when I was about 14ish they had a old bull nosed ,what i do not know , they used to take sand stone, around and tip it out ,then collect mashed grain from a brewery, and she would let me hold the gear lever .i can still smell the brewery smell, that was when the seed was sown…dbp.

Well I am truly amazed buy the response on FB to a short film of us out with my team of Dutch carriage horses on Wednesday, Carole one of my helpers informed me this AM that it had been shared in many countries and had 41500 views and been shared 125 times, she asked if she should take it of and my reply was NO I feel like a rock star, Buzzer.

PS. DBP you mentioned the horse knew what he had to do and that is true, mine sometimes catch me unaware and turn where we have done so before, and there are many a man been took home from the pub by his horse while he was blind drunk !.

Hi Buzzer,
I have read a few books on railway parcel delivery and it stated in these books that the horses knew the rounds as well as the men also brewery drays they reckoned the horse knew the way back to the brewery as the draymen were drunk! Cheer’s Pete

during the war i lived with my grandparents on a little farm on the staffordshire moors . saturday night grandad went to the pub in the pony and trap , shutting time his mates loaded him into the trap and the pony fetched him home , blind drunk . grannie would hear the pony clip clopping up the lane , drag him indoors and put him to bed .

Regards
Richard

Richard cant believe how Carole’s video has taken off, it has at present 245,000 likes and still going its unbelievable and the fact we only do it for a bit of fun. Now I feel like a bit of a rock star and I have never had so many compliments on my driving skills, but I would love to take that lot over Mont Cenis now that would be a bit of fun fancy a trip out ? could have a glass or three of Frizante at the top with some lunch, we could take Saviem on a nostalgic trip at the same time bet he’d love that cheers Buzzer.

PS. If you know how Richard put Carole’s video on here as I have not the know how.

Hi Buzzer ,yes some picture, looks like 4 travellers [not the gypo ones] trying to figure out which lane to go into RED OR GREEN the horses fancy green,[for grass] the driver looks suspect. could be BURL EYES. OR RAMOND CHANDLER. the passengers have just said, the old bill is over there, with the ministry man.
I hope you have the ■■■ bags with you…lolDBP

The shunter driver from Newbury wasn’t called Dave was he?

Bang on Gazzer think it was Dave Meritt or something like that but Horry would know for sure. Do you know him ? Buzzer.
By the way “snapper” Morrison reckons he used to drive this old tin can Ford.

Unfortunately John never drove one on the road but did spend a few holidays in one as a boy all over uk with my brother vast improvement over the F88 he had previous space wise at least oh & I did use a couple for shunting round yard a couple of times when I first left school as well many moons ago now lol

Tipping cream at Westbury…

WP_20160214_003.jpg

Very good photographs WRIGHTY, what a nice clean environment you work within ,how do you blow the cream out, or is it natural pressure flow, it definitely is the posh! end of tanker work … although the hours are unsocial ■■. Creamery’s have a kind of bleach -ey type smell, slightly medical.

Believe it or not when I was on Pulleyns, if they wanted us to get the side of the country, so we could load export, we would load fresh milk from a creamery and do supermarket delivers to HUBS ,or even I have done stores…not good for the sleep though I can tell you, once loaded you were away ,and they were waiting for you …The only reason they did this work as they Pulleyns employed a ex creamery transport manager, not a popular man… with me ,[my choice]from Bracknell…

Evening DBP,

The cream is sucked out of the tank with the dairies pump, on the picture I posted you can see a small silver pipe going in to the back of the tank, that is a steam pipe.
Steam is pumped in as the cream is being tipped, this condenses on the inside of the tank and washes the residue off, when the tank is empty clean water should run out. This method uses less water to get all the cream out, the smell in dairies is usually caustic or acid whichever they are using in the cip set…

Back up in Chester tonight loading skim concentrate for upt north, last day tomorrow then off for four days of farming and relaxation, not necessarily in that order…

Cheers Wrighty.

Seem to be getting a lot of night shots lately lol

Daytime that’s better lol
