Had a chuckle at this, Buzzer.

Is that the bridge which had the flashing warning signs back in the 1970s as we used to load oil dispersant in a tanker from a little factory just a few yards before you got to the bridge and it was the first time I had come across these signs which lit up as you passed a senser informing you were to high.
It was when the "Amoca Cadtez " had broken up off of the coast Jersey as I drew the short straw and had to do several loads to Jersey and Guernsey
cheers Johnnie
Hi Johnnie think there has been warning lights for a long while but some drivers still don’t take any notice, if I were approaching a bridge that looked a bit low think I would slow down and creep under but some of these guys are hitting them at speed then get jammed. There is one bridge near Eastleigh where a skip driver caught the lifting arms and it threw the cab up underneath and killed him, Buzzer.
Must be an exceptional tautliner to not go under 4.3m!
I don’t think that particular bridge has warning lights.
However the Sun “Arch” does, but if you go past the lights at over 30mph they don’t flash. Saved me a long trek around when I used to live behind “The Sun” pub!

Probably a tall boy they are 15’3’’
Been there and done that Buzzer, nice scenic route.
If I remember rightly, there was a narrow tunnel with a bend in it.
Once you entered you were committed, and just hoped you didn,t
meet something coming the other way…I love those old photos.

Hi Tone,
Yes you are right that tunnel with a bend in it,was good fun, Angie & I one night going that way came up to one of the villages before the climb to find a sea of flashing blue lights, an Englishman I think it was one of Cartwrights of Wolverhampton with a Scania and tilt didn’t make the bend in the village and had gone into a house spilling his load of British Leyland crates all over the road,a policeman stopped us and asked if we spoke French as the driver of the Scania didn’t, we managed to translate for him,all the while the lady of the house was making hot drinks for everybody in her kitchen which only had 2 walls standing !! I think when they pulled the Scania out the house would collapse.
We used to take the customs guy at the border English newspapers as he loved them,he never wanted to see a permit All he kept asking was why haven’t you got “Springroad” written on your truck ? as it was a regular route for Bingo, and Micky Leech.
Hope you are feeling better.
Regards
Richard
Been that way twice. Lost my offside mirror twice! Yes nice scenic route. Regards Charlie.
Wonder if there is a weight limit on Genevre nowadays like on Cenis, its always the same with the Frog’s they put these limits on so you have to pay was always a challenge to pay out as little as possible if time allowed, Buzzer.
Did you go the “easy” route, Gap, or go via Lautaret? Twitchy!
You,ve confused me gazzer…I know that’s not difficult these days.
Only ever went via Gap…
Hi Richard and the lovely Angie, took this shot while filling up me pickup at Tracy Island today and just wondered if this truck was a reincarnation of the old firm. We know you are into smalls transport but thought I had better check this out, regards Buzzer.
Message for Andrew Morrison, just to let you know I left a big jar of pickled eggs in the custody of Trevor today, he said he was going to text you and wind you up. If you let me know when you are going to be in Tracy Island I have a travel jar of the same put by for you, cheers Buzzer.
PS. Bit short on pictures lately, must try harder.
Nothing wrong with that pic Buzzer.Classic sleek lines.Nice colouring. Bigger jar might be a bonus. Regards Charlie
Dear Charlie thought I would show you a double wammy should be enough gas in these two to take you to the moon and back, good advice is to fit the parachute before consumption, Cheers Buzzer.
Beautifully prepared and presented Buzzer. Be proud young man. With all your hobbies and sidelines how did you find time to run a company? That’s why you invested in boys. Fine lads too just in case I ever want to go back up the road. Save an F88 for me and Mappo. We could still do it you know.Regards Charlie

Hi John,
Yes we’ve decided to specialise in transporting pickled eggs,we can get all the way from Tracy island to the Alton area running on methane gas, then refill the tanks at Charlie’s house after he’s had a couple of jars
Regards to you and “The Boss” let us know when you are coming out to the forest with your horses and we’ll buy you a drink
Richard
