The guy on the left, I don’t remember although it looks like he,s nicked
one of my old shirts.
In the centre is Nat…smashing bloke who I went on the pi… with I mean had
several enjoyable meals with.Definitely a diamond geezer ( although that,s someone
else as we all know )
Now on the right is Alby and Yvonne from scouseland, which reminds me of the time
I had to tip one of their trailers in the UK as he was due time off.
I had the hump about this as I recall, and on route to Spalding, I errr had that mishap
with the French coach at Newbury.
I tipped and re loaded in Spalding for Greece and I think shipped out of Dover so you hadn,t seen
the damage to the fridge. :unamused: :unamused:
I tipped in Greece and re loaded in Italy for Spain where I did a change over at Barcelona with… I
forget his name, nice fella with the disabled missus (r I p ).
Anyway I went back to Greece with his trailer, while he tipped and reloaded in Spain for the UK.
On his return to Soton you saw the damage to the trailer, and I seem to recall receiving a rather
Irate phone call from you regarding the damage, but by the time I got back to base, you had cooled down.
Happy days aye.

Tone, at a guess would say the driver you swapped with was big Les Medus from Cornwall, aka Biggles.

Les Medus move to Cornwall ,as was said , his wife wasnt very well - lovley lady but sadly he lost her to her illness. Spent a weekend with them had good fun , also called in on them on route to St Austel with my girls on holiday… At the time he was selling double glasing products etc. Have tried to contact him at various times but without any luck. In the meantime he wasnt getting any smaller, bless him loved his food n beer- lived downhill from his local ,lol. No flies on him - theory was hed walk up to the pub sober■■? and could roll down the hill home at any stage of wind and tide …
Hi to all.
Take care ,
Joe .

The trouble is you old boys don’t realize that I wuzz in the farming game from a very early age and here is the proof, me in the cornfield about 1955 and I am not the one with the cap. That’s me nearly 60 years ago stood by the sheaf of corn with me little sister, the chap with the cap was a jobbing farm worker who went round the local villages doing all sorts of manual labour, later in life I worked with him doing fencing and making fence piles sadly no longer with us. Don’t know who the other two lads were but probably just there to help with the harvest. Then I got into the transport job, cheers Buzzer.

Horry ,

I got Axles XL when he got a new one , P22 me thinks , was replaced by R33. DAF cars were all the rage then, well til I got the new one which pullled like a train. Natt had P33 and then R22…
NURSE nurse more beer for bed number 25…

Cheers boys .

Pinged you JD, no problem. Add insult to injury can recognise a binder too, we had one converted from horse drawn to a linkage for the Ford Ferguson - pre Massey Fergusson,…

Joe that one was pulled by a Standard Fordson which came new for the war effort with a new two furrow Ransomes plough. My mother had to go and turn over other peoples land which had not been touched for years with that out fit as part of that war effort. The first Ford got sunk off Ireland coming from USA which had rubber tyres. We had to have a British built one but that had spade lug iron wheels with bands if you needed to go on the road. The fella in the pic with the cap used to cut the first turn with a scythe so as nothing was wasted, the sheafs were then ricked and a contractor would turn up later with a thrashing drum and do the business, hard old times but that is how it was, cheers Buzzer.

Here’s a few of Roy Smith’s

Copied from another thread, a couple of blue and whites lurking in the background.

Now this is going back a little, not liked by every one but certainly you could put your money on his shirt to get the job done, but who is he ? in the kitchen of the old house that we lived in on the A27 at Bursledon. Note the directors car of the day through the window in the garage , a Hillman Hunter if my memory serves me well which you could get a super single in the back of should it be required, cheers Buzzer.

Trust a man like you being a dedicated follower of fashion would have a spare pair of sandles for a poor retired transport operator in your old and used collectable department, you know where I live so if you could deliver as I cant afford the petrol to come and collect, cheers JD.

PS. some one must have put them on while I was sleeping !

Got several old pairs to choose from, but they,re a bit worn now, so you
may need to take them to the cobblers. ( do they still exist ■■? )
If I deliver by hand, would I still get a full English like the old days ■■? :sunglasses:
