Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Now this is about right Buzzer.

Buzzer:
Hi Andrew nice to see you are posting again but one thinks it would be nice while on your travels that should you come across a nice example from another operator, you could maybe snap that opportunity and post on here. You see there are far fewer British company’s going abroad nowadays so it would be nice to see who else is still at it. By the way I have now deposited 400 lbs of newly made sausages in the freezers so when you are having a break at Tracy Island let me know and I will dispatch a sample Regards JD.

Ok John your wish is my command,as it happens i may have a few of British from last couple of years,i’ll dig em out.Do anything for a homemade sausage me!!

Hi Paul
I too worked at Davies during the 90s.
Billy. (M1 Gel)

Now here is one from the late 70s the driver in the F88 is Stan Mathews RIP and the white mandatory was my trusty steed before I hand painted it green in the farm yard in Bramshaw. Stan was my first driver and came from Whitehorn’s and he was the one who introduced me to roll ups. The picture was taken in the café on the A4 just the other side of Marlborough, this is where we used to have a tea and bun after tipping our second load of ISR rubber on the old airfield at Yatesbury, cheers Buzzer.

Here is a much later picture of washing down activities in our old yard in Southampton, its “The Professor” aka Neil Wilson at the front of the trailer but don’t know who the other two are, cheers Buzzer.

Sussed your coded message Andrew. L.I.T.O.T.F.F.S.F.T.F.W. which translates to, Look I took out the fu–in fly swatter from the fu–in windscreen, but do you know what J.F.G.O.P AND S.M.M mean also E.F.M.I.T.S.O.E you will have to confide in an older stalwart of DIT to crack them, cheers JD.

I know the first two Buzzer, but not the last one.
Give us a clue.

TIR Tone, hope you are well.

SMM = Send More Money (Sure you have used this distress call many times before in the past, usually the next morning in The Ferry Boat after shipping out the night before)

EFMITSOE = Every F’ing Market In The South Of England (A term used when we used to load from Piraccini Cesena. Saturday morning the fax machine went through about four complete rolls of shiny paper when the deliveries came through for Sunday night. Sometimes this abbreviation was altered to EFMITNOE.

Take care, see you soon

No mate he has a yard which you can see from the motorway at nursling just past M271 junction on left hand side going towards Cadnam, but I thought he only run’s a six wheeler scanny low loader and a small 7.5 ton crane truck nowadays, but sure he will correct me, cheers Buzzer.
