Charlie; now I’ve caught you here. January is when the council hand out the “poor packages” to the “poor people” of the manor (god knows what that is in Spanish).
Last year it was all in a “veg” box, you know the one, cardboard, stackable (standard carriage for Buzzers Mob).
This year due to the crisis it’s in plain white carrier bags. No “Donated by the E.U.” advertising to shame the people claiming a few biscuits, rice, pasta, a few slices of salami, some “caldo de pollo” (chicken stock, goes well with the rice or pasta), some dried beans and a few tinned tomatoes. All the ingredients for a superb weeks food for a family of 6.
Now it’s not too late to put your name down for a handout. Don’t worry, the Spanish aren’t paying, it’s the good old British tax payer (Me!) that are contributing to prop up the needy (you!) via the E.U Fund for those of limited means.
You only have to say the word and I will go into the Ayuntamiento (Council) Offices tomorrow morning and get you registered.
Once I have collected the placcy bag of goodies, I will hold on to them until the August bash and dutifully hand them over (Free Davies International 2015 calendar included) for the consumption of you and your good lady.
Should you fail to show on the said bash, I will instruct Tim Sheppard to make various meals for the “Turner uppers” delight, on the day, out of the said proceeds of the E.U. Fund for those of limited means.
Anyone else of needy disposition, add your names to this thread and I will oblige.
PS Our Council have so much available in their slush fund (brown envelope supplied funds), there is little scrutiny!
