Cant put me finger on that one Colin but maybe it was after we sold them on as the only nasty we had that I remember with the two tone blues was Tony two when he went up the ■■■ of an ITYE but that just pushed the cab back a foot but no top of cab damage truck was NNV—Y ex Scattercash, you best ask Hori as he has a memory like nothing I know, cheers JD.
PS its pretty obvious its had a knock Charlie but well spotted anyway sorry no prize for you.

Colin

Hi Colin yes that is NNV. Pic taken in Princes by the looks of it. They couldn’t have been there all that long. If memory serves, it was recovered by another one of the flat cab F12’s WHO 498V which ken daly drove. I think he was accompanied by Brian paling and maybe even Pat. The accident occurred in Italy and can remember looking out of the bedroom window on Sunday morning and it was parked in the bus stop. (A regular occurrance on a Sunday apart for Xmas!)

Hi Horry,

My brother used to work for Brian and spent many an hour painting your motors, as well as many others in the Southampton area, he dropped these in last night and there are a few more to share…

Colin

Hi Colin actually it was Eddie Huntley who went to recover NNV with Brian Palin what a laugh they had and they used a lift system borrowed from Pat which slotted into the fifth wheel and was battery powered, once the required height was achieved a pin was put though to hold steady. I remember Eddie saying they should have picked up the rear and tied the steering wheel up of NNV as they did it the other way round and they remarked there was no need for power steering as you could turn the wheel with one finger. We sent out another tractor to collect the trailer and finish the job off, in the end we had to fly Tony Winter home and he spent a long time in recovery. Sad as it was NNV got written off and I know not where it ended up, cheers Buzzer.
PS. I remember Brian used to paint some of Lamberts lorries and they were so tight they only painted the out side rails of the chassis and the tanks as they said you cant see the inside.

Actually this does unfortunately describe our local Police quite well, Buzzer.

and the story behind this John?..

Colin

Don’t know what truck it was but the picture was taken at Sundays Hill, Hedge End at Brian Palins establishment. He used to de stripe the motors and mop them for resale and I must say that one looks good enough to eat and ready to go on to its new home and what a lucky punter where ever he was, JD.

Hi John,

my brother said that Princes’s wanted to use it at a show or demo and it came back to P&S for a shine up. i think he said he spent hours masking and spraying to get it tip top. I am impressed with the shine, look at rthe reflection of the suzies in picture 1.

Hi Colin. This one still has the wrapper on it as you can see in the windscreen the manufacturers sticker on the passenger side. If you say princes wanted it for a show, then this would be H18 MJD prior to being sign written (well stickered up) by Appleton signs also of hedge end. It did go on the Volvo stand at Truckfest Peterborough 1991 prior to taking it on officially. Catwalk and chassis storage boxes were done as ever by Asgood Engineering near Empress Road. A 2nd identical F12 followed soon after that as I believe buzzer took H18 in May, would would add up for Truckfest. J11 LLD went on the road 1st August 91. Both were sold on to LS commercials and am sure Tony Bradfield ended up with one or both of them as per a few pages ago on Soton thread. Over 20 years ago now but still seems like yesterday!

Sorry buzzer but I gota say this, it’s the typifies the Davies attitude always looking backwards, it’s always about how it was there and what you used to do

Given these comments I assume you have had some 1st hand experience with the company. The purpose of the thread in the main is for many people connected with the company past and present to enjoy happy memories, stories and experiences. As for always looking backwards, well I suppose there is a lot to look at after over 40 years of continual trading and I do not just think, but I know buzzer has earned the right to be involved regarding the company he founded. So don’t be shy, make yourself known!!!

Well said Horry
