had to get a quick phot today whilst driving past, fleet looking good. i did see horry in one of the new trucks but he looked busy and i wasnt going to be a nuisance by asking if i could take some more from in the yard.

Well personally I think with the blue stripe lining up with the trailer etc, that they look smarter than the Volvo’s

I followed one out off segensworth this morning first time I’ve seen one coupled and have to say they look the muts. I liked the volvos but think the scanias look nicer. I think the name on the door was phil maybe? Lucky sod .

That FH cab looks a midget up against the the skoda don’t you think ? cheers Buzzer.

i really wanted a look in the truck to see how much room is in them, ill have to keep popping past on the off chance lol

Well Joe C you reiterated a saying of mine from years gone bye which was " if you had a furniture van you would fill it with crap ", but to be fair our chaps are away for two or three weeks at a time so are allowed a bit of extra baggage.
Bocockjnr as for the cab size suffice to say roger has ordered a trampoline so he can reach the top lockers, it is cavernous inside with all mod cons, including a fridge and a freezer and a microwave to mention a few not like when I was driving abroad, cheers Buzzer.

PS. Come on Andrew lets have some cab internal shots please.

Hi Guys

Im very intrested to know what you all think to your new scanias ? especially with you all being volvo men for many years ?

Opticruise compare to I shift ■■

Fuel consumption Much difference ? should be better now or once the trucks loosen up a bit

In cab storage ? external tool boxes are no comparrison volvo is a worthy winner

Thanks for your time

Mike Ponsonby…

There is a quirky thing with them on the auto box in that they have 3 modes: Empty, Loaded and Hilly!

A: You have to remember to switch between them.
B: When in Empty (ECO) and you slow to an almost stop at a junction and can keep going at the last minute it will shift into first gear, not ideal and rev its nuts off!
C: It self educates to the way you drive…shift up at 1500 rpm…good…then it forgets all about it and wangs up to 2000 for no reason a bit later in the day!
D: If SCANIA can couple a GPS to the gearbox ECU so that it can “read” the road ahead (pay extra)…why then is the software so crap that you NEED three modes at all? Surely air bag pressure sensors to tell the engine what weight there is and hence what gear is needed should suffice?

PS “Hill start” DOES NOT WORK ON THE HANDBRAKE only the foot brake. Embarrassing roll backs if you just let the hand brake go on a hill!

Front right white LED next to the headlight failed…4 days of life! NIL stock…but ONE in Fareham! Probably got DAVIES written on the parts bag!

I agree about opticruise i have a couple

Too be honest i flick into manual more often as it revs too much and makes some rediculous gearchanges

Ive never drove an i shift but im told its far superior

thanks
mike

Hi Mike P they have just shipped out on first run to Italy, small problem with one truck but tip cab pipe loose so tighten jubilee clip and a simple fix, too soon to tell any thing yet better after six months or so when drivers got used to them and they all have bedded in then we get better idea of what’s going on so ■■■■ it and see at the moment. Hope it goes well as this is a huge investment for a company like ours, but we have been around for a while, the other point is most of our drivers are older as it not like it was years ago when I was in the guvners chair you had a constant stream of young guns wanting to have a go at International work, they are not so keen today how things change eh cheers Buzzer [now retired but watching with interest]

Hi Buzzer

Yes keep me posted Please

I know what you mean mate ive had a few monday to thursday international men

anyway time to get the overalls on

hope to hear from you soon

Mike…

Agree there mike mon to thursday men
Or 1 week end out then want to be finished by 12 next friday
And off til monday

They dont make drivers like they use to

If we still had intl transport like we use to
Think we would have no choice but to have ee drivers
Good euro drivers are few and far between now
Lots of wannabees but then cant hack the time away

Good luck with the scanias buzzer
Im about to go opposite 2 scanias going for 2 volvos
First one on rd already
Mainly down to price and mpg
16k cheaper than equiv 480 and so far over 1 mpg better
All down to how greedy the dealer is tho

Hi there “getting-on” ur name is very close to our saying of " Gellin on " which basically means get 'arris in gear and don’t spare the horses, any way odd to see you going the other way with motors, you must get better service from your dealer than we do from ours. On reflection I think you do get a much better deal when you buy in numbers but we cant compare with ESL as I hear they have 500 scania’s on order so our replacement’s are a drop in the ocean compared with them, we shall see what the outcome is in due course on our decision, cheers Buzzer

Do you think this is on the money !
