Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Buzzer:
Hi Jim I just want to know if the little pig motif on the door has “PGS” cut out of it, I don’t know if you knew what it stood for but it was “Porky Git Squadron” as most of the drivers way back then were of a portly nature, and the bowler hat used to have “JD” also cut out just for your information mate cheers Buzzer.

No Buzzer didn’t know that but unfortunatley it’s got all the wording on it ! So it’s the original form, but no worries about you all being porky’s be proud of it !! but then again you look quite trim to how I remember John !!

Should I build another then ■■?

Regards Jimmer

You know what Horry is like Attention to detail is foremost, best you get on with it then Jim cheers Buzzer.

The reason we stopped here on Hampton Ridge was to inspect a concrete arrow set in the ground, now I have been on this track hundreds of times but never noticed it before and it was a directional arrow for bomber crews from nearby Stony Cross airfield during the 2nd world war when they were practicing bomb runs, useless bit of information I know but may be of interest to someone cheers Buzzer

Evening Buzzer, bit of useless information, had to get down from the saddle in the middle of Hay making tonight for our Farrier to give “Jake”, his obligotary set of front shoes, (he, unlike me is now retired). Now Jonathon is just returned from the Calgary Stampeed, where he came 5th…that as you know is some achievement. My Horse, (like me has reached his “sell by date”), but our Farrier is the tops, (and next year he reckons he can win it)!!!

He reckons the average cost of a full set of shoes, west coast USA, tops $400!!!..I gave him £30, plus tip, for front shoes, and a trim!!! (Told him all about the downsides of living in the USA)!!!

Getting wonderful Hay, and “Phobee” is working hard on the colour…and the smell, when I “tedded” tonight was intoxicating, gosh I do love making Hay!!!

Raise a glass to you tonight, good luck! Cheerio for now.

I found this photo on Facebook John. It looks fairly recent so maybe there is still life in the old girl.

Credit to Dougie Smith. I hope he doesn’t mind me using his photo.

Cheers
Neilf
