Buzzer:
Hi Neil on Monday I was trundling up from Dorset in me horse box and as we approached the queue of traffic waiting to go over the flyover and up Poulner hill a DAF truck sped down to the roundabout and up the slip road gaining about 50 places in the traffic, it had In health on the back of the cab might this have been BV Holland. All the way to Cadnam I got closer to it as cars pulled out and overtook but it turned of at Cadnam as I was going to also but there was a county fair at Netley Marsh so thought better of it, cheers Buzzer.

Hi John; It depends what time it was, there are two of us from Dorset I got to Ringwood just after 6pm,and yep i did do the naughty down and back up,but I went of at j2 to Romsey and out through Baddesley cos of the backup on the M27.The other guy left before me,about an hour I think… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Must have bin him then Steve cos he came off at Cadnam would not make any difference as it was solid traffic all the way from Ringwood to Rownhams after that the M27 east was fine running as usuall, cheers JD.

Hi Shady thanks for that I thought I was in the corner on me own !! see I knew it was better looking that a Bonfire Baler as Saviem said .

Jimski:
Come on you two !! Stop reminiscing over old bikes, smokey Ariels, Triumph Tiggers, DBD Goldstars!!( never heard of em  Nah !!

Now this is a Bike !!

Regards Jim

Jim; I do agree that is a bike, definitely, and so is this… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:0

Evening all, shady, with the utmost respect that al fresco ugly piece of ornamental ironwork, powered by what would appear to be a redundant 1/8 of a Magirus 232 sadly could never be classed as a motorcycle.

A couple of weeks ago, whilst steadily devouring the A41 at my Deeres 40kph, complete with 14tonnes of best Chicken ■■■ in the trailer, I heard such an awful noise…so bad that I slowed, fearing some major mechanical disaster…the noise grew louder…then was right under my ear!!!

But all was well, it was only a couple of “male menopause” sufferers on their 1/8 Magirus motorcycles overtaking me!!(steadily, as is their habit).

Maybe you could swop that, (plus some cash), for a proper motorcycle!!

my kindest regards, (and jimski that F88 is superb, my pal, the late Graham Ball used to drive for W&M Woods, and then Incotrans on the ROBA job).

Cheerio for now.

Hi all sorry no pics for a while bin on me hols   been up since silly o,clock suffering with jet lag but alas back to work tomorrow so should be some good pics up shortly??

Here’s one taken recently parked on the new tarmac parking area in Caen was also wondering if you (john) could give me some tips on what to grow in the window boxes for the truck as i thought i’d come back to gardeners question time

not gonna bore you too much but this was a tidy b/w volvo pity was in car at the time!

& this one was not over top on bull##*# just a fine looking outfit, think its a freightliner argosy

Hi all well Shady seems that Saviem is serious ! He really dont like the Hogs! I think we should keep an eye out for him on the road cos next time we pass him we may get covered in Chicken ■■■ !
Thanks Saviem for the kind comment on the model  oh it’s not an 88 it’s an 89… Or my attempt at one. Many thanks.
Must go the Harley’s ticking over waiting for her Sunday jaunt, not to fast Saviem but it will overtake any chicken ■■■ carriers!!
And Bomfire Balers !! Triumphs, Areials, BSA’s    usually ! :unamused:
Kindest Regards Jimski.

Don’t know what the top speed of it is never had the B****s to find out its 1584 six speed, but don’t tell Saviem he’s bound to out do me !! :unamused:
Regards Jim

Hi Jim.Yes I`m fine thanks. No,the only thing I towed with mine was my big fat ugly girlfriend. My pulling power was pretty low even in those days.Regards Charlie

Hi all spotted this for sale in truck trader but no price on it, its not correct as I think it should have a small plastic grill not the chrome one which was from the earlier model also the side lights are square and should be round and also they have filled in the air vents on the frount that used to push out for ventilation, comes with tandem axle time related frigo, cheers Buzzer.

Hi Kevin were you there when it was PBC ? there was a fitter there called Brian and I have seen him since as he and his Mrs drive horses as well as well as him there was another fitter there as well but cant recall his name may have been Maurice. Funny thing is Frank Allen was my immediate neighbour until about 5 years ago and still lives just down the road from me and he is 84 now but still looks spritely for his age, cheers Buzzer.

Hi Charlie I remember Ian Lawson had an L reg F88 also with the silver grill, I remember seeing it at the old Townsend Thoreson terminal in Southampton do you remember that place with the departure lounge shared with Normandy Ferries. Cant remember who he sold it to but my memory tells me it was cream or fawn in colour he must have sold it when he bought the F12 that he is still running today 34 years on do you think he has paid of the finance yet. That was when Phil Garrett was a young man behind the booking desk, still see him at our office occasionally as he resides in Whitely the other side of the M27 to our yard. I also remember Giraud tankers on the inspection bay when getting of Normandy Ferries carrying brandy and the customs men dipping and filling there thermos flasks which ime sure they did not declare, funny how these things stick in your mind eh cheerio for now Buzzer.

Evening Gentlemen, shady, jimski, hands up, I was only winding you both up!! D`ont want Buzzer to kick me off the thread!!!

Did you build those bikes yourselves? Must take some keeping clean. I`ve no real experience of V twins…apart from shoe horning a Vincent into a Featherbed frame, normal thing big alloy tank, rearsets, clipons so low you needed thumb guards! And somehow I created a monster that sounded great, accelerated like stink, and was devoid of all the handling virtues of the Featherbed!! Since then …no V twins. Oh and I sold the Norvin for a mega price…£150, and bought a Mk2 3.8 Jaguar with Chrome wires for the money, registered 4060 HP. Had just asked my wife of (over 50years) out, and wished to impress her…pity that I could not afford the petrol to run it!!(and she was not impressed, thought me too flash).

Never had much luck impressing the opposite ■■■, many years before I met my wife, I arranged to take a (gorgeous), young lady for a spin. I arrived on my Triumph Thunderbird…(lots of finance from Grays motorcyles). She was beautiful, from the blonde beaufont hair, to the neat white stilletoes.

Now those of you of “a certain age” remember that ones manhood was in doubt if one was seen, or even heard at less than full throttle on ones machine…thus we proceeded through a summers Sunday afternoon. When we eventually came to rest, my companions heavily lacquered beaufont was at a Galleon in a rough sea 45degrees or thereabouts from when we had started out!!!..no the relationship did not endure…see why you go for single seats on your bikes!

What are they like to ride? Do they handle, or do they tell you, oh no, thats too fast?

A large Bollinger beckons, cheerio for now.

Now then Saviem these old boys on this thread are easy upset they don’t understand an intellectual input and don’t take kindly to criticism of there chosen passions, simple folk with simple pleasures I know this, I used to work with them. When looking back to our youth I think we all did stupid things to try and impress the fairer ■■■, and most of the time we had lucky escapes when at a later stage of life we see just how lucky we were when a re acquaintance occurs, love is blind and most of my mates are still with there original intended as we seem to attend more milestone anniversaries nowadays. I read that you are with the same spouse you chose all those years ago and it would be nice to hear what impressed you about her that you made your commitment and vice versa. My Mrs always says to me what attracted me to her and I always say it was your ■■■■■ dear, but her and her mate said they were thinking of being nuns so she definitely got saved when I came along. She lived 23 miles from me and the other side of Southampton which meant trans versing with 23 traffic lights one side to the other and my challenge was on my way home late at night not to get stopped at any of them and keep the car moving which I did manage a couple times. We met in one of my local pubs that we always went to on a Sunday evening, we were having a party the following weekend and invited her and her three friends along and they duly turned up and that was it, me in me Ford Anglia hand painted and at a cost of £32-10 shillings how I must have impressed cant be the car it must have been my charm, at least that’s what I always thought enough of this reminiscing I need to take haylage to the cattle, cheerio for now Buzzer.

Hi Saviem; I would love to say that I built it myself, but the truth is just wouldn’t have the time. She was built by Battastini (B’mouth) alas no longer around, they ceased trading last July. For a Chopper she handles surprisingly well, just gotta take corners a bit slower, and she will cruise at 80mph quite happily. Like Buzzer says,we are very passionate about certain things,Trucks,Bikes,Cars & Women. I will have been married to the same girl for 37yrs come Aug.21st,thus though the hog is called El-Toro,I call her the mistress,'cos she’s never got a headache, and I can get my leg over any time I want… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Its a good job Andrew is back from his Hols as we miss his input, and as for gardening tips for those on the move Andrew may I recommend a window box at the back of the cab if there is room between the cab and frigo motor, this is necessary to prevent wind damage and you could rig up a automatic watering system from the output of the dehydration pipe which normally gets deposited to the ground this would save you time with the watering can and if you grow salad crops you would have ultra fresh crops. Please note there is no charge for this advice as you are an employee of DIT but for others it will cost, cheers JD.
