Worried West Wellow.
Dear friend in West Wellow, all is not lost and help is at hand that’s of course if Percy Thrower is still around and you Richard must remember him as he cant be much older than you, you could try getting hold of him through the BBC if this fails try a medium. If all else fails may I recommend gardeners question time airing on good old Radio Solent at 12 o’clock on a Sunday where you can just listen in or phone up for a live chat with an experienced person, they are used to novices who know very little so you wont feel out of place. Alternatively you could try hang gliding as you are probably more suited to this than gardening what ever you choose to follow in the future may I wish you every success in your chosen path, best wishes Green Fingers, Bursledon. NB. not to be mistaken for the other Fingers !
Evening Buzzer, when Ive finished this bit of “dusting”, would you like me to come down with my “de-stoner”, and go over your land? She can get the little bits of stone right out, leaves the land like Fullers earth!
That grass looks good, how did you do with the cattle? any buyers,(or just lookers)?
We have frost again tonight…b…, its like farming in Scandanavia!

Cheerio for now.[/quo
Hi Mate the Boss in the picture and myself are the de stoners here bin at it for four years on that patch and they still keep coming, we have got stone paths on three sides so when doing any work you can just sling them to the nearest path.
As for the grass my 40 chicken run on that and my horses out in day time, has had no fert but the choocks spread the hoss dung which is always dropped in the same place.
Only put the cattle on the net to see if there was any reaction, none so far only lookers but they are back out now and they are picking what grass has come through but eating a bale of haylage every 4 days as well, going to leave them for 4 or 5 weeks and then to market as hopefully there will be more grass about after this nice bit of weather we are having at the moment, all past TB test as well. Its a pleasure driving the horses out with out dressing for Siberia, Cheerio for now Buzzer.
Hi Mr D.
Just to say I liked your post & pics of garden, as last year, I was asked to volunteer to help on an allotment plot with the local Heart Club. They said it would be good for us on heart attack recovery, but trouble was nobody else was convinced & I ended up the only volunteer! Anyway, I started to do it in much the way you described & all went well at first. I planted the simple things, spuds runner beans cabbage sprouts cauli’s & a few onions, but due to some dramatic changes at home, my time was taken up with other things. Also the weather went from bad to worse & eventually I seemed to lose the battle with the weeds & nothing came to much. Was I downhearted …NO… well yes actually, but I decided to give it another go this year & thought if I got started early things would be ok. Well as you know it has been very cold so far this year, even down here, so I have a bit of catching up to do, but it should be ok. This is a pic of it last year before I capitulated!
Hi BigG you should be alright in the IOW as I heard it was dam near tropical over there and you don’t seem to get the frosts that we do, any way I have earthed up all me spuds just in case we have a late one. You have to think like I do , it’s got two chances it either grows or it dies but at the end of the day you cant beat home grown when you dig or pick it and half an hour later your sat down eating it so happy gardening
Cheers Buzzer.
Got this on Ebay for our little herd of grand children plenty on here for all to have ago and tire them out, had it delivered and erected and I bought it of a Pole but I don’t care cos he did what it said on the tin well pleased, cheers Buzzer
Buzzer:
Balders your mum kept you in for the first five years of your life but it did not stop you wandering, cheers JD.
John, She should have kept him in for longer than that then he wouldn’t have led the poor chap on the right into so much trouble, seen here with his carer on the left. !
Balders, Do you think Polish Ted, if he was in the resistance knew that Yvette from Rene’s Cafe ? Cause she was quite fit in her day
Regards
Richard
Well , Dear old Robin… Not sure I led him astray…I’m sure it was the other way round?? Either way, we did get in a few scrapes over the years… I last saw him about the time he was getting laid off from Suzuki…What’s he up to nowadays?

Ha! , nice bit of banter fellahs. Made me smile. All dandy here , although we’re a chook down. Found him toes ( or should that be claws ) up on Monday Morning in the hen house…
The talk of chickens, and Robin Bartlett reminds me of our first trip to Portugal… We crossed over the border at Villa Formoso and headed towards Coimbra. No IP5 then and any on here that did that route then will know how bad the roads ( tracks ) were, and you had to dodge the ox and carts…, barely room for two trucks to pass, and wing mirrors were frequent casuaties… Anyways, after a long and seemingly endless climb up the mountain we stopped at a small roadside hut for a break and some fodder. We walked in and found we were sharing the space with a couple of locals and some chickens.
There was no menu and we spoke no Portugese at all… With sign language we managed to get our needs across and we recognised the word " Soupa " … , so we said yes please!
Without further ado, the woman seized one of the chickens, wrung it’s neck and headed into the kitchen… About half an hour later we were presented with a steaming cauldron of soup, complete with the claws floating in it… As I recall, the soup, followed by bread and cheese and with a couple of beers came to under a pound each… Happy Days…
JD, There were some Highland Cattle on Countryfile last night… Do you have any of those?
Thank you for your help with my gardening problems,I took your advice and went in search of Percy Thrower and visited the BBC,they asked me if I had been abused by anyone as this seems to be the latest scandal, I said no,but could I wait for Nigella Lawson to come in just in case
Percy’s home town was Shrewsbury so I tried there, must be close to Saviem’s estate as on the way the recycling bins were overflowing with empty Bollinger bottles
It would appear that Percy has passed away some years ago (R.I.P.) So it’s off to The Royal Oak at Fritham to see if any of the old boys can help me
Baldrick,
Well done for getting Robin from the pic, his carer is Kevin Holter (Gerbil). Not sure what Robin is doing at the moment I’m sure Kev will know.
Hi Richard… Thanks for that. I don’t think I know Kevin… although think I may have seen him in a ■■■■ film once whilst in the drivers lounge on the Love Boat… was it , ( " Wind up yer Trailer Legs and Brace yerself?? )
Did Kevin work for Barbours? If so, I owe him 8 Francs for a meal in the Ferry boat.
Just to say Richard a lot went on in Percy Throwers potting shed that no one knew about and it was not all cuttings and potting on and special compost, and you are right about that Saviem he seems to get through a hell of a lot of Bollinger unless that’s the name of his local beer, cheers Buzzer.
