Thanks for the comments mate I do a bit of showing but prefer to just get out and drive them, its the same as showing trucks I surpose,a lot of hard work for little reward but if you enjoy it why not, cheers Buzzer.
Buzzer:
Sorry to hear of your man flu I thought that might stop the new film " Balders and the Beanstick " hope you will be well enough to get them planted as I know you received the little parcel, quite amazing as I addressed it to Balders, does your postman know you by that name ?
cheerio for now Buzzer.PS. Next time I will test him just put Balders France and see if it gets there.
Marnin’ Boss… am back on form… Got the beans in at the weekend , together with 2 types o’ lettuce, radish and early spuds…
The Baldrick name did cause a minor stir as we share a postbox at the top of the drive and the neigbour collected it. He was going to take it back to the Post Office. He asked me why I’m Baldrick and not " Stuarrrrt "… I tried to explain but dont think they showed Blackadder over here , so he now thinks I’m even more crazy rosbeef than he first thought! Ah well. Funny, that name you gave me has stuck with me for the best part of 18 years
Horses and cattle are looking good John! Ttfn. Balders en France…
Bonjour Balders glad to see you got the beans in at the weekend hope they do well,i wuz thinking if you renamed your place chez Baldrick then your neighbour would know the post was yours, i surpose cos your isolated you got a crop of weed on the go as well, purely for medical purposes of course any way when they come up , keep them beans well watered I have a hose pipe which I bought that has little perforations in it which is led at the bottom of the sticks this enables the water to get exactly where it is needed good idea that any way ttfn Buzzer.
Balders I take umbridge at the fact you don’t believe I washed the back of a trailer of for Roger, as it happens I had done the inside and out of my little DAF before hand which can be seen in the background of the pic, I have found it is better to lead by example and show the staff you are not afraid to get your hands dirty even if they don’t follow suit. Let it be known there was no CGI and the pic was genuine just like me, enough said cheerio for now Buzzer.
PS. Now go and wash your mouth out with carbolic soap Balders ,so there.

Hi Saviem test all ok and there on the old internet now so we will see if there is any response from that, better sold at home as no transport costs or commission from auctioneers and the add was free as well.
We have never had a holiday since getting married in '76 even worked on me honeymoon although my Mrs aka “The Boss” says im’e on permanent hols but as you say if you enjoy what you do it is like being on holiday.
The body on my truck is a lift off David Williams from Wrexham one of the last they built but they have gone now and I bought it second hand in Wrexham.
As for the rolling I need to get that done as well I harrowed a week ago Monday then we had a lot of rain so had to postpone but it is drying fast now and signs of the grass beginning to move so lets hope it stays warm with some showers .
Good luck with your ground work off to shut the chicken up, cheerio for now Buzzer.
Took the grandkid for a ride round the block on Saturday plus Horry ■■■■■■ and the Boss, cheers Buzzer.
This was a good motor for me from yesteryear bought from Geoff Gilbert of GG International from Boston, Lincolnshire later it was coverted to a six legger with a Granning but looks nice as a four wheeler, cheers Buzzer
Note the name and address of the owner painted on the battery box which was common years ago.
NB. note the flared jeans.
Looks like we had the same tailor Buzzer.

They were all the rage back then Tone especially in brushed denim as it was softer on my delicate skin, Buzzer.

I didn’t have any carbolic so used some of the local 1 euro a litre red wine. Rough as guts, you could run your fleet on it no probs. You washing that trailer reminded me…
You let me loose with a brand spanking new Cargobull one trip, twinned with a lairy Merc demonstrator. Before I went, you said " Dont scratch it Balders "…
Off the boat next morning and parked up that night on a services South of Bordeaux. Busy as anything and had to park on the exit road in between two trucks parked in line. I backed in on the blind side in the dark. felt a bit of slight resistance, thought I’d put a wheel up the kerb so carried on. Pulled the curtains went to sleep…
Up at 5 to a beautiful sunny dawn. Walked round the rig before setting off and was horrified to see a 4 metre gouge in the trailer just below the roof! The “resistance” was a tree branch…
It took me until the end of that days shift to pluck up the courage to phone and tell you the glad tidings. And even then I had to have a large Soberano before calling! You taught me a few new swear words, but as I recall you were very decent about it when I returned…
Have got 4 chickens coming this week John so keep the advice line open! Cheers, Balders.
It’s a very worrying thought Tone, that JD may have taught you all you know about fashion and poise…

Balders I think it was the other way round me taking the odd fashion tip from TIR and as I recall I think you will find Tone’s CB handle in the day was " Blue Denim " lets see if he confirms or denies, Cheers JD.
a question for you buzzer , back in the mid 80s i used to deliver hydrated lime to a company in soton for onward shipment to the isle of wight . i can, recall properly where it was , but somewhere past ranks mill on the right , but not certain . the name davies or davis comes to mind . i know it was a good tip . i wondered if you might know who or where it was . thanks , dave .
Buzzer:
1This is a Leyland Linx 26 ton unit I drove for Noyce Bros from West Tytherly in 1975, it had one of those “headless wonders” for an engine as they called it in the day and was gutless especially as it was running at more like 32 ton’s most of the time, later I got a Mandator which was only one year old and that flew, cheers Buzzer.NB. note the flared jeans.
JD, re Noyce Brothers… There was a Dave Noyce ( aka “The Onion” ) on for Cabmont in the mid 70’s… any connection? Balders…
First of all, let me confirm with embarrassment that my ’ cb ’ handle was indeed
’ blue denim '.
Balders… You were,nt the only one to put a gouge on one of Buzzers fridges.
Do you remember JD the incident with the French coach at Newbury.■■?
After said mishap, I went to Spalding, tipped and re loaded for Italy, then loaded to
Spain from there, and then did a changeover just outside Barcelona with one of the lads,
can’t remember who with a loaded tr. for Greece.
Luckily for me you saw the damage on the tr. long before I eventually returned to base
although I do seem to remember getting an earful on the blower,
but you had calmed down
By the time I got home.
Looking back now Buzzer, we did give you some grief from time to time for one reason or another,
but you was a ’ good old boy ’ to work for.
First and formost Balders that fella Dave Noyce I think was the chap who was entrusted in giving me a road test for Franky Allen it was in an old Foden with a gate gear change, well I did about 300yds up Portsmouth road and that was it I said to Dave if this is what I am expected to drive I wont be joining but this being in PBC days Franky had allsorts including cut down rigids with fifth wheels welded on etc etc and the tilts weren’t any better. At the end of the day I had an old aec with a round parkroyal cab handbuilt I might add but I broke the hub reduction on that motor on the way back from Yatesbury with a load of rubber bound for Amiens in Francey, after that I had a Mandator no sleeper but they only had four sleeper Berliets in the whole fleet.
Now for Rigsby I cant recall any other company with that name in Soton but some one else might, Watch this space for the answer.
Mappo as you may recall if any driver working for me hit and damaged any unit or trailer I would give them a right bollicking for ten minutes and then when I got it out of me system that was it, no god going on about it for ever and most drivers knew how I handled such situations. The one’s I did not like were the buggers that kept quiet and tried to lay the blame elsewhere so some other poor bugger got my wroth that I did not like, cheers Buzzer.
Yes… I remember the " Road Test " ! Jelly Legs did mine…in a Foden.
I think he must have been told to pass anybody, as apart from steering it I didn’t have a clue really…!!
Re owning up… I think you’ll find that those who did are on this forum , those that didn’t aren’t , and respect you as a half decent guv’nor…
Do you remember Mick Madgwick or Jim Kelly from Cabmont? Both Pompey boys…
