Copied over, your old 88 i believe
Sorry to sound critical i think Paul Perris went a bit ott when he got hold of VTA,it was not a V8 so why have twin stacks, never bin a fan of all those swiggles all over the paintwork,i might be a bit biased but think it looked better in our plain colours you make your minds up,also a pic of how it was when we bought it,cheers Buzzer.

HI Saviem i thought we were restricted to the time of year you could spread manure or is it different where you are,did deliver six loads of muck meself on friday so got a big pocket full of thanks just now, chain harrowed and rolled me field on monday and it does look alot better even though i had to leave a couple of patches which were just to wet still.Cloudy and raining here today but managed to plant some spuds in the garden on Sunday so hope we dont get any late frosts to naf them up,cheerio for now Buzzer.
Ah Buzzer “the regulations”… d`ont we hate them…but yes Im legal, the thought Police would have me if not…NVZs !!
But these dear people still cannot fathom the depth of the Supermarkets food chains!! And we knew about it for years!!
Yes I`ve rolled, and harrowed, but we are still so wet up here, its like the Somme!!!
Today have been deepening ditches, to get the water away, using the old HYMac 360…about 12.00hrs Plod turned up, some Ramblers had complained about mud on a Bridleway, asked me if I had done a " risk assesment"…I really could not believe him, so folded the arm, and trundled back across the field…12.45hrs my good lady rang, and asked where I was…why…well there is a very wet young Policeman outside, who wondered if we had a tractor available…to recover his car from the ditch he has reversed into!!!
Hi Saviem we all seem to get into hot water along the way,i remember when we first moved into our present house which we had built after two years of hassle and a planning appeal which we won in the end,one local councelar got a petition up saying i was going to run 12 artics from the property which also happens to be in a conservation area which to any one with a brain could see was never going to be a reallity but some unwitting souls signed it.Once settled in one sunday morning i decided to cut a lower branch of an oak tree which was causing to much shadow over my veg plot, and after about an hour a lady and gent turned up from the council and she cautioned me and read the riot act,of course i was polite with a few expletives at which point she repeated the caution and reminded me any thing you say etc etc, after she had finished i really told her what i thought, she said she was in the middle of her sunday roast and did not need the call but had to attend which cost the tax payer about one hundred pounds all the time this and the evidence was recorded on film by the fella who came with her.As time goes on i just feel thigs would be much better if a little bit of common sense was applied but i doubt me or your good self are about to change much, cheerio for now Buzzer.

Hi I remember Dave Buck I bought his green Transcon from the liquidator and ran it for a while, John Shaw was the driver, we did not get on with it, as it had a few breakdowns and ended up breaking it up in my yard Mo Baker had a few of the spares and a man in Buxton (Eric Williams) bought the rest!

Hi Balders i planted my early spuds last sunday expect it is too early but my filosophy is its got two chances ,it grows or it dies but with a polly tunnel you should be ok,the variety ive found best early is a spud called annabelle. As for the rest grow what you like to eat such as i prefer french beans to the runners and you should try the climbing variety these you could plant in the high part of the tunnel,A. it is of the ground and easier to pick and B.its of the ground away from slugs.also beetroot globe is good and if you get a glut you can give them away or boil peel and pickle them in malt vinegar, these should be planted in narrow rows with space between the rows and the same with carrots with my tip make the furrow for planting and put a little compost in the row as carrot seeds are very fine put more compost on top and thin cover of soil and tamp down will be fine.I do buy a few cabbage and colly plants and transfer them out but they always seem to come together, you should be able to source these in local market etc. Also you could grow tomatoes our favourite is the miniture yellow ones they are sweet and come in a handy gobsize, anyway get some manure in the ground best done over winter so too late now it makes the soil more humous and you will get better results in the long run and it helps retain water.Inthe last two years i have invested in perferated hose pipe which on the beans i lay before planting on the ground at the base of the climbing frame this is efficient as it puts the water where you want it.If you have land outside your weather should be good so alot of these veg would do well outside ie.courgetts but remember they will spread wide and need alot of room, anyway Balders ime no expert you learn as you go so good luck.
As for Dave Buck i do remember the name which in my recollection there was something not right there but its a long time ago and ime not about to bad mouth him with no knowledge, perhaps others will know more.
Buy the way get some chicken if you got ground they can roam free on,i have 42 and they run on about a hectare of grass and i sell all the eggs to a cafe and i cant keep up with demand as they are so orange yolked people just keep coming back for more, make sure you got a secure house and good fence’
Ive bin ramblin on a bit here Balders i should write a book on self sufficientcy and you could buy a copy, cheerio for now happy growing JD.
Hi Pat…many thanks for the info re Dave Buck…I guess that was in the mid/late 70’s. regards, Baldrick.
JD: Great stuff, thanks. Like you say it grows or it don’t! Am just going to give it a go…
Am already thinking of chickens, the guy next door has a few and they wander around our bit as well , much to the fascination of our cat. I did read of a scientific project where they crossed a hen with a banjo. They got a chicken that plucks itself… BOOM BOOM!!
Talkin of eggs. I recall taking a trailer load to Italy for you , in the 90’s… Can’t remember if it was a one off or a regular job …
Anyways, thanks again, will keep you posted and check out the annabelles… regards. Balders.
